Unable to get join the Titan club today...what can i do

We have agreed on a price for the truck but i owe 16000 on my 01 frontier SE CC 4x4 w/50000 miles. They will only give me 14000 today. I would have had to order the truck that i want but it would take 3 months for it to come in and "the new frontiers are coming out about the same time which would lower the value of your truck so your truck is more valuable now.". WTF.

Try selling it yourself instead of letting the dealer dictate prices

Had similiar problem with my 2001 Toyota Dbl. Cab 4x4. Dealer offered me $ 17000.00 on first visit but then lowered the offer when I made deal over invoice and would then only offer me 15.500 so I said adios and sold it in the thrifty nickel for $ 17,000.00. Dealers tend to make more money on trade-ins than new vehicles so add couple grand at least to whatever they offer you unless they refuse to come of MSRP. Gotta watch those (guys). You have to weigh the tax issue as well. Good luck.

BM,

Do an online check of other dealers that might be in your area as well through the nissan site. You might find 'your' truck not that far off and a dealer that may work a little better for you on the trade to move the truck off thier lot.

Understand...but are they really selling the truck to you for what you want to pay? Looks to me they may be using the $2k diff on the Frontier to get some money back outta the deal. You might be better off finding a dealer that will give you more for your trade and wanting anywhere from $300-$600 more for the one they are selling you.

I see what your saying i think my only answer is to order the truck the way i want it for the agreed 300 over invoice and w/out letting them know sell my truck on my own. I just cant find the truck w/the options i want any where (Jacksonville, Savannah, Atlanta, Charlston) Hopefully i wont get stuck w/two car payments for too long. What do you think?

Well I think definately selling the current truck yourself is going to get you more for sure...owe $16k...advertise it for that and don't go below $15k and make the diff up...then go get your Titan for $300 over....That pluses $1k back to you in the trade difference.

As far as the two payment thing...if you can swing it, then why not? That way your order gets in 'now' and you still have a vehicle to drive in the interim until it is sold..

Always ask for more than your willing to accept... They (the buyer) want to feel like their gonna get a "deal" and that they didn't pay "list".

Hate to do the same thing car dealers do but hey sometime people are willing to pay first offer..Take it. I listed my truck for 17.999 and sure nuff 1st guy offered me 17,000 which was what I wanted. Go for it.

Im thinking their not going to stop till around July-August. then they'll close the plant for a month. And switch everything over to 2005's. Well that's what i was told down here in cali by one fleet guy. So just think. May could be our last 90 period. Think what you could get off msrp around that... hmmm :Ps
