Dealer sticker - opinions on allowing the dealer to put them on?
What is your opinion of the dealer putting their name (sticker) on the rear of your vehicle?
I didn't complain this time since it actually looked ok, but I have seen some dealers use a sticker that is so large it stood out more than the vehicle's name badge.
I have heard of people telling the dealer that they would require a monthly advertising fee if they put one on their vehicle. Do you think that is fair?

I am usually there when my new cars come in. I don't let them clean them up or put anything on them. Check out what they need to, do the paperwork and I take it home and detail it myself. If I find any issues I let them know. I don't mind putting a license plate bracket on it but nothing else. I am just really picky about my cars and trucks. I paid for the vehicle, why do I have to advertise for them? I will refer people to my dealer that is for sure as long as I get a good deal and good service.

I purchased my Titan from out of state and asked the salesman if their dealership badged their vehicles with labels, medallions, decals, etc. He said that they don't put anything on them and suggested that I remove anything that would clue the dealer in my home state that the truck he is doing warranty work on is not from his dealership. He said they most likely wouldn't know otherwise. He said some dealerships won't put their best foot foward doing repair on new vehicles from another dealership.

A monthly advertising fee? Good luck finding a dealer who will comply with that. What you MAY be able to do, is point out that their dealer sticker placed on your new truck is nothing but an advertisement, and ask for that "monthly fee" in the form of a larger discount on the truck.
I once ordered a new car from a dealer, and asked specifically that they NOT place their company logo on my new cars rear end. The sales staff was more than happy to comply, and even informed me that this is a request they recieve all the time. When my new car was ready to be picked up at the dealer what do you think was plastered on the back?? I showed them the paperwork stating that they agreed not to litter the back of my new car with thier little plastic emblem. The fleet manager walked in and apologized, telling me that "that's just how they do things here." This threw me into an immediate frenzy. They eventually agreed to remove their emblem, albeit very reluctantly.

Static, anyone who thinks like that needs to check out this forum :
In fact, everyone here with a nice new Titan should check it out and learn how to keep the paint looking new. One of my favorite hobbies is detailing my (non Titan) truck!
I get violent, but there arent many dealers around here that put on those sitckers, and I would tell them where to shove it, or would say, yeah knock 100$ off my monthly, and I will let you put it on... lol
I never let the dealer advertise on my vehicle. I have license plate frames on the truck now with the dealer's name and web site address on them. MUCH better than decals, but I'm pulling them off very soon...
You tell them up front - No stickers/emblems. It's that simple. Last 4 vehicles - no stickers I do tell them to go ahead and add their plate holder. I have never had a dealer even question it - In fact for my Titan, the Salesman said - "I don't blame you, I wouldn't let us put that on my car either."

When they are preparing the vehicle for deliver, I tell them:
"Lisc. plate frames are OK, but if you want to put a sticker on there, you must give free oil changes and alignments for life!"
I still have yet to have one put a sticker on a vehicle.
What is the best "safest" way to get that sticker off the surface? I don't want to do anything that would ruin the clearcoat or potentially scratch it. What solvents would do the trick and still be safe?
You can see it right above the TITAN on the tailgate.

Is it a sticker or a plastic piece applied with a double-sided tape? I'm not sure about the sticker but the latter can be removed fairly easily by heating it up with a hair dryer and peeling it off.
As for my opinion, I think you pay all this money for a vehicle and the dealer gets paid from his commission on the sale, the dealer hold-back, extended warranties, financing, and if you have a trade, more commission on that. I don't feel that they should get free advertising with their little badges too.
