Anybody else has problem with the back's middle seatbelt?

Last night was the 4th time it stuck. All the other times, I just fold the seat up and down to release it. Last night it took quite an effort. Maybe not a lot of people use the middle seat in the back, but I have 3 kids. I can see how it stucks easily, the way it's pulled straight out, not up due to the location where they mounted it.

First, I thought it was not a big deal but I guess I have to take it in now.

I have the same problem with my middle seat belt. If you push the belt in on the bottom of the belt where it goes between the seat and the seat back it will release. It is almost like it is too short and won't release the latching mechanism to pull back out. Anyway, I took it to the dealer and they have a new belt on back order to replace it. It is a big pain.

Thanks for your response and the tip. I hope it's not the the problem with the design/location or the new belt won't help. And I hope I can duplicate the problem when I take the car to the dealer next Monday

I also had the same problem and told my dealer's parts guy. He told me to bring it in. (I have third child on the way I'll need the belt.) Anyway my dealer is 95 miles away so I haven't done it yet and then it started working one day. (I think because I pulled the seat in the upright position to haul something), But today it acted up again. I too hope this is not a flaw in the belt design so I best give my dealer a call and make the drive.

Same problem here. It doesn't take much time for me to unlatch it but it does for my young ones. At times I have to get out of my seat and get in theirs to unlatch it. Kinda annoying.

It was easy to fix the first couple of times, but it'll get worst.

That's 4 of us with the problem and I am sure there will be more when people use it more often. What I am thinkning is when I take it to the dealer, I for sure won't be able to duplicate the problem and they'll send me home and tell me to bring it back when it acts up. It only happens on the weekends (and not all the time) when my kids are back there and I am not going to let my kid ride without the seatbelt, I have to fix it right away.

What do you say we call Nissan-1 to let them be aware of this so the dealers will take a look regardless?

thx

Its easy to replicate...just pull on the seatbelt hard until it locks

Oh thanks, I did try but probably not hard enough.

Edit: wait a minute, I didn't think of this earlier, If you pull it hard and quick, it's supposed to lock up. Isn't that how seatbelts work?

yes, I have

The couple of times one of the kids has tried to use the middle rear seat belt is has been difficult. It is on my list of minor issues to address when I take the truck in for its first service.

Mine just refuses to pull down. My problem is not the release button itself.

Mine would not come down at all unless I let rear seat down and jacked with it.

Durocab, I think we all have the same problem that it won't let you pull out to use it. Not when you try to release the buckle, unless I misunderstood you (on the release button).

Same problem here. It locks up in a straight line... no brakes applied.. no bumps in the road. The only way to recover is to have my kid take the seatbelt off, tip the seat forward, push any slack into the take-up real.. and start all over.... It happens nearly everytime someone sits in the middle... both small/young people and adults...

Base on the posts here, I guess the problem is it locks up whether being used or not and with/without the engine running. In my case, I did't even start the car yet, just told the kids to put the seatbelts on and one of them, in the middle, couldn't pull it out to use. I am printing this thread and bring it to dealer tomorrow. I tried to make it lock up yesterday but it wouldn't lock up regardless

Thx to all your responses.

Dealer has ordered me a new one but I'm worried it may be a design flaw given the number of people with the same problem.
