Daytime Running Lights

I found that DRL's are controlled by a relay. I ordered the relay and I can't wait to see what happens when it's plugged in.

Excellent!! Where did you get the relay ordered? Is it a factory Nissan part with a part number? This was the same thing needed on my 300M and I bought the relay plugged it in an there was the running lights. Thanks for the information!

That would be graet. Let us know how it goes, as Nissan emailed me saying it was not possible without changing the whole engine wiring harness.

Hmm, the service manual makes it look like there's a NUMBER of differences between the Canadian and US models. Seperate sections for lighting in the manual for each. Let us know if it works though. That'd be one heck of an easy mod.

It appears that the relay is missing from the US model, true... However, the service manual also is showing that the combination meter (M24) does not have pins 23 and 13 on the US model, with 23 running to the parking brake switch (M11).

I don't think it is as easy as plugging in the relay. I have checked and on my SE there is no place to plug the relay in. If you look in the engine compartment behind the battery close to the firewall there is a relay box. On the lid of the relay box it has a label marked DRL or daytime running light relay. When you look at the corresponding section of the relays you see the DRL is not there but worse there is no wiring for the relay to plug into. I think this is what Nissan meant when they said it was a dfferent wiring harness in the engine room. I researched this all through the service manual.
