06' Titan, just rolled 80k miles on the odometer. Would love to upgrade to hotter spark plug perhaps performance wires, if it would make a difference. installed 24 inch alloy wheels has hurt mileage a little, getting right at 400 miles on a topped off tank, is this normal? a few other little issues that could use maintenance.. any suggestions or tips, what to look for and avoid? also send details on installs or howtos, as well as pics
Dam 80k my 06 has 34k they say you really don't have to change out the spark plugs til 100k but at 80k it won't hurt you can just do the regular change all fluids tranny, oil, ect....

Mines an 05 and I just hit 67,000 miles on mine. You must drive a lot! But anyways I've been wanting to get down and finally do a tranny fluid change but I know the fluid is freakin expensive. Good luck on the tune-up. Let us know how it goes.

Mine is an 06 and have 105k now... but for plugs- I would stick with the NGK's for sure... and why hotter? no point really... What I would do, is- if you haven't change all the fluids, spark plugs, we don't have wires- its a coil, and most of all, a nice long bath! Oh and 400 on a tank... that is really good I would say! I think the furthest I have pushed is 325 but thats besides the point- Good luck with the truck!
thanks, guys, that tranny fluid is not cheap by any means.. and the process is intricate. its put on a machine while running at at a certain temp then completely flushed using fresh fluid while forcing old fluid and contaminants out. any recommendation on a cold air kit? and tune, ive heard mixed reviews on the timing advance and WOT tweak.. btw most i got on a tank was 501 miles on stock wheels and a topped off tank. from dallas to jackson , ms with a stock muffler un-tampered anything avg 80-85 mph.

Reason: misspelled word
Don't mess with the spark plugs - keep the NGKs. At this point, pull and clean the sparkies - that'll help, but they're good for ~100K miles before they need to to be changed out.
There's no central distributor on this engine, those are pretty much a realic of the past by now. Nearly every vehicle has individual ignition coils mounted on top of each spark plug. If you get a hotter spark plug, they can actually damage the ignition coils, which cost ~$180 a piece to replace. The ignition coils should last for ~130K miles before they start crapping out. Once one goes, replace all of them. Don't be proactive and waste your money at the stealer when they tell you to change them at 100K, as the manual states.

is there any advantage to the +2 timing advance? and what are drawbacks? also was looking at tuners, and perhaps a power adder. saw a titan on fquick with cam upgrade. any ideas?
I don't know about cleaning platinum plugs, I think that is a big no no....others can chime in but I think it is pretty easy to damage the tips.
I'd look at changing the thermostat, its a pretty cheap insurance policy (~$15). Look at the serpentine belt pretty cheap too even though I'm sure you're good for another 10-20k miles. Flush or drain and refill the antifreeze, just be careful about the cheap plastic drain screw (don't know if the 06 is still plastic but my 04 is and its fragile).
I drained the tranny fluid and dropped the pan and cleaned the magnets on mine at 90k...maybe also look at the power steering fluid? I don't see many people talk about changing it, but mines real dark at 100k and its probably shortening the life of my power steering system.
