My name is Gary King...son of the original CaliforniaTitan, Christopher...I come to you now 4 years after his death asking for all memories you have of my dad to be posted wether it be old posts...argument...fun times hanging out with him...shows you attended with him or in his honor...or anything else you can think of...please don't bash my father
for those of you who didn't know him:
CaliforniaTitan was a great man who spent 22 years in the NAVY and when he died was married to Krista (my stepmother). He commited suicide about 4 years ago in february and he has been dearly missed...he was a part of the Z car club of inland valley california and used to be a moderator on this site.
I hope you all remember him well and thank you in advance for your posts
if anything if you are just stopping in bump the topic for me...i can't get on much and would like to keep this going
I want this thread to go well since it is involving my father so i will start off with something that some of you probably know about since some of you were involved:
I remember when me and my dad were a part of the z car club and my dad convinced them to open up a new grouping in the car show for an award involving nissan titans...we went to the car show (I worked it by organizing and telling the cars and trucks where to go) and all of a sudden a titan drives up with an infinity symbol on the front of it and we all had a good laugh about it...we had 9 trucks show up at the first one involving that
I'm sorry to hear that about Chris...I searched him on the forums (since I didn't know him) and spent some time reading his old posts, and getting to know his forum personality. Seems like a great guy, I wish I could have had the chance to meet him.
Hey, I don't post here much anymore but I still try to check in at least every couple of weeks. I bought a first year Titan after doing lots of research. Your dad was very enthusiastic about his truck and about Nissan's in general.
Always seemed like a really good dude. Wish I would have had the chance to meet him.
yeah he loved that truck and was willing to tell anyone that it was a great truck...*laughs* he always had me wash it every time I saw him and I never minded it...and when it came to the Z I loved it too...I share his same enthusiasm and alot of people say me and him not only look alike but we act alike too...I hope to soon get back in touch with the car club and try to get in on their shows again...also I'm gonna be around this site a bit too
I remember your dad being on here being very active - I don't specifically remember anything he and I might have commented on but there are 20 pages of threads where his name pops up when you search for his name.
He was one of the guys on here early on where I'm sure his input was part of what I used to make my decision to buy a Titan.
Sorry to hear about the circumstances around his passing...I had heard he passed but didn't know how.
I am going to get off the computer for now but please guys bump this thread and keep it alive...I'll prolly be back on later tonight and again thank you to everyone for their support in this matter
Your Father meant a lot to me. He was one of the first owners of the new Titan and his discoveries saved me and many others big problems down the road.
He was a big factor that helped me become a moderator on this site and through his help, guidance and kindness he helped make this site as successful as it is today.
We were shocked when we learned of his death and all of us had no sense that he was having troubles. He kept it well hidden from us and was always pleasant, thoughtful and kind even when people really didn't deserve it.
All of us who knew him, even if only through this Titan site, miss him greatly.
I'm glad you came thank you for posting this especially with the picture...alot were made of in loving memory and even the inland car club put one on each of their cars for the next auto show so that his car would win best in class...I recieved the award for it...again though thank you for stopping in and please if you have memories type them out for me I'd love to hear them
I joined shortly after he passed and remember reading many of his posts and threads. He seemed like a real good guy and his love for the Titan was obvious.
Hopefully more chime in that were around during his days and share some great memories!
Sorry to hear your misfortune man. I'll bump this topic for you. May your dad RIP.
Next time I make a trip down the track, I will dedicate the pass to him.
greatly appreciated...actually I've been thinking about contacting the nissan homefront and asking them to make a "King special package" for the newest titans...it would of course be a subtle change to body and possibly alittle chrome...but other than that...it's how my dad would have wanted
met your dad at one of the meets up north. your dad was one cool dude, real helpful and definitely a real car buff. i remember he loved his z and was in love with the titan. i remember him posting up pics of the exhaust setup on the titan and i could have sworn he mentioned that you helped him out with the setup. proud father he was! be proud of the father he was, from what i gathered from meeting him and reading his extremely inciteful/informative posts here he was a great guy! unfortunately the site thru scare tactics had forced many that knew and formed relationships with your dad off to other sites. quite an unfortunate thing as a handful of those that your dad knew left and created other titan sites.
anyhow, i'm glad to see you honor your dad by visiting the site he helped start. he'd be proud!
yeah I helped him do alot with the titan...changed out the grill, added step rails, the exhaust system...I even changed the oil on it...but mostly he had me wash it since I had small hands to get in deep on the rims *chuckles* but yeah we put alot of work into that titan and into the Z...I still remember when dad had the crimson pearl Z and I was helping him move it out of the garage and up onto the side of the driveway, first time i had ever driven a Z but dad was teaching me how to drive stick...the driveway was up on such an incline that I got nervous and ended up backing into the bushes on accident halfway destroying the....fun times fun times.
but yes my dad was proud of me...he even said so in the tape he left behind and I was very glad that I could make my father proud of me...and I'm sure to this day he'd love to see where I'm at...I'm now 20 years old been living on my own for 2 years now...I'm engaged...have a high school diploma and am getting a good job...I know he'd love to see where I'm at now
I am not sure if I am mistaken, but I believe your dad and I had communicated several times about buying a new Titan back in 04. I was a moderator on a Frontier forum and he was one here. I posted something on the Frontier forum about Titan Talk having a "problems section" and he actually registered over at the Frontier site to dispell any possible notions of bad design, poor quality etc..... I believe he won me over, because shortly there after I bought a 04 Titan and have had it ever since. Also have a Z now. If I'm thinking about the correct gentleman, I think about him from time to time and remember how he had such a passion about the truck and how we debated back and forth about stuff. I still remember someone coming on this site after his passing to announce the sad time (mom/wife maybe? maybe you?) and thinking, ....man that was the guy that I bumped chests with about the new Titan, and now look, he was right, I got rid of the Fronty and still love my Titan. Your dad is not forgotten, I think of him from time to time, and your post brought tears to my eyes because I hope someone like you (relative, friend, etc...) goes through the trouble to remember me to others when I go. Wish I had met your dad.
In rememberance, FLfinfan/
And from all of us....users on this site, I know that he is one of the establisher's that made this site the way it is: knowledgeable, helpful, and entertaining. I never been on any car or truck forum that is good as TITANtalk and I can say thanks because of your dad. Let him rest in peace.
