Actually there are quite a few people on the Frontier Forums that complain about their brakes. Mostly rotors warping and brake fade or spongyness. Mine are ok, but I do wish I could improve them. The Frontier CC 4x4 is a heavy truck, I can only imagine what the Titan has to try to stop.

I think the brakes on the Titan are awesome. I don't need to apply any unreasonable amount of pressure to them to get stopped. I would get yours checked.

The Titan's brakes are the best compared to others but the stopping power is not linear. It does feel soft initially and that's not very practical for day to day driving. I'd read most of the reviews on the Titan and kind of expected that.

Edit: Just to be assured, I had my dealer check and it's normal.

Perhaps it is a case of some defective part or parts in the braking system, or perhaps there is air in the system. I would ask the dealer to bleed the brakes, and see if that cures the problem.

Brake assist??

Maybe all the comments about softer brake pressure is all to do with the Brake assist that the Titan has. I don't know what other vehicles have this and it might be the reason.

Talking

did alot of city driving and the softness of the brake pedal was getting old!
The gas pedal however is just what I needed.

Derwud, thats my boy Shula. 3 year old Weimeraner, about 89 to 95 lbs. Will run till he catches it....whatever it is! The most athletic, loving dog you ever will meet. I love him like a son. He picked the Frontier for me. It's the only truck I test drove (to my house), did almost all of them, that he jumped into the back seat. All the other ones he just sniffed. And Nissan set the truck up for him. Back passenger windows go all the way down.

They convieniently place child seat anchor points behind the back seat on the rear firewall/bulkhead that allow me to clip a body harness into.

And he loves helping me work on my truck like changing the oil. He has to watch me work on his truck.

My brake pedal feels "soft" too but stopping is not an issue. I have even activated the ABS system and stopped very quickly.

As Briarman mentioned, I find that I do not need to use the brakes as much as I did with my 03 Frontier because people do not cut me off on the freeway very often. I think it has something to do with intimidation!

I've also noticed a "spongy" feel from the brake pedal. I did notice that if you give the brakes one good pump then back on the brakes, it will make a world of difference. Which leads me to think that this may be something Nissan needs to address.

Love the dog.

Wife has a Passat, I traded in an XTerra (best brakes I've driven on ANYTING), dad has a Tahoe. IMHO the brakes on the Titan are great, lots better than dad's tahoe. Especially considering how fast I am usually going when the light turns red! Bug truck+lots of speed=MUCH MOMENTUM. And it stops everytime. I would have it looked at, there my be an issue with the ABS, I've never come close to flooring the brakes, and we had someone pull out in front of us doing 50 during my test drive.
