I have an '08.5 xe crew and when it's hot out the fan blower motor jumps from med to high by itself for a few seconds then goes back to med. It does this a few times, is this normal? My '04 did not do this.
Mine does it too.
I read here somewhere that it has to do with some sort of a heat sink for the fan motor or something like that.
When it gets hot, the fan speeds up to cool it.
When the A/C is on, it stays cool all the time so the speed stays the same.
I tried to search out the thread with no luck yet.
I do know that the thread was posted back when there was a SoCal Titan meet at Huntington Beach last spring. I think it was the same day the event took place.

Mine does it too.

Mine does it with the a/c on, I don't have an auto setting it's an xe.
I have an 08.5 and mine would do this every once in a while but it has been happening more frequently so I took it in to the dealer. They looked at the truck and said that there is a "3 pin resistor that needs to be replaced with a 5 pin resistor" - exactly what the service manager told me, no more details. He said the 3 pin resistors have a tendency to overheat and cause the fan speed problem. They were able to duplicate the problem. The part was ordered and will be replaced on Monday. He said the repair will take less than an hour. Hope this helps.

I just picked up my truck from the dealer. I misunderstood him on the phone, he must have said "fin" instead of "pin". I have the 3 fin heater switch resistor and there is an improved 5 fin replacement available.
I read on the invoice that there is apparently a tech. bulletin on this issue. NTB09-011 more info here: NTB09-011 - Nissanhelp.com

I would like to know why mine blows hot air through the vents even when everything is turned completely OFF.
Does it blow, or just flow through? I'm not sure, but I think the baffles don't shut after you turn the AC off. It seems that it allows fresh air to flow through the vents as you drive.
