Comparison Test

Well I was able to test one radio against another in the same areas and on the same stations. I drove an Infinity with a Bose and the reception was excellent with no fading or weak signal on the three separate stations I tested.

I then drove my RF Titan and the stations' reception, well, sucked. Faded in and out with changes in direction, etc. There was no comparison. It's not the signal, it's the radio, I'm convinced.

There will be a way to fix this, I'm sure. Until then, I'll listen to CD's.

Keep after them Deepwater!!!!

I do not know the answers to all of your ?. But my NAV screen has NO such set"up for SAT. The Nissan tech. told me that only the 6 disc changer's should have the sat. or per-wiring. NOT the 4 disc. Here we go again! What are the facts! DOSE anybody know? Thanks for any answers to this!

Deepwater, I've got an LE built in Feb and when I hit the SAT button it shows "NO SAT". I'm also confused on wether I need only a subscription or to purchase the reciever and antenna.

When I push the Sat. button on my SE it say's "No Sat" does that mean that it is prewired? If so what do I need to buy? Can the Dealer do an install?

All trucks with the midline or premium (Nissan 6CD canger or the Rockford-Fostgate) are prewired for Satellite radio. They need a tuner and an antenna ($450 +/-).

I would think unless you REALLY know what your doing you would want the dealer to do the install, you can look at the install instructions here.

XM install instructions

That's what I thought (and still believe) but others have said they are not pre-wired.

Thanks for your info!!! Your's seem's to be working right! And you dont have the (reciever/antenna installed yet!) And your's says NO SAT! Thats what I wanted to here! Now I for sure dont think mine is working right! Mine should say NO SAT. as well! The Manual say's that you will need to buy ALL 3 of them and have them installed. Your truck came with the per-wiring, so your all ready to go! Thanks again!!!

I think some are panicing since the upgraded radios without a SAT button do not display NO SAT when pressing the RADIO button. That could be a typo in the manual, we will not know until somebody rips into the dash looking for the connector on the harness .

Although Deepwater has me confused, he said he had a RF radio with a 4 disc changer. I thought they were all 6 disc (except for the base radio with 1).

If there are a couple 4 disc radios floating around they may be exceptions.

My understanding

The way it was explained to me the definition of pre wired means that there is a wire harness to plug the xm reciever into. The RF 6 disc radio has the ability to display the satalite features on it's existing display but only with the purchase of the reciever and antena. Not sure about the ones with the NAV system - it sounds like you guys don't even have a sat function - that would be disipointing and suprising if the upgraded system actually had less features.

I was interested in Sirius (do to the broadcast of NHL games) and inquired about getting it hooked up to the RF 6 disc radio in my LE. My dealer contacted Sirius and was told that they are working on the reciever to hook into the radio the same way the XM reciever does and it should be available sometime in July.

From what I was able to determine these radios do not really have any of the xm functionality/programming built in however have the ability to display and control the satelite radio with the purchase of the reciever and antena. Nice option if you don't want a seperate unit sitting on your dash. I checked into purchasing the seperate unit for both Sirius and XM - they are portable and can be played with any radio system and are much cheaper and versatile however they do cluter up the dash. I guess it is personal preference.

geece1...? How come the people with the SAT button radio's, when they push this button in, the screen display shows NO SAT? Just like the manual says it should do! They do not have the receiver/antenna hooked up yet! And it still displays NO SAT! I just cant get this to come up on my display! But there's seems to be working right! I do have the RF 6disc.changer in my truck, I have posted this many times. I'm still confused on this! I hope to here from someone who can clear this up for me! Thanks for your input!!

I can almost bet that cycling through AM/FM will also cycle through XM once it's installed. That is my guess at least, since they would have to include the functionality somehow.

The install instructons for the factory XM receiver clearly states that installation is adding the receiver... looks very easy to do.

bvstone.. I am hoping you are right on this! But why dose there's show up when they push the button in? they do not have this hook up yet. And it still shows up! The manual says this should show up on my radio just like there's is doing! Maybe it is a "type-o" in the manual but why then dose there's show up and mine will NOT? I just DONT understand this! Thanks for your input!!

Because you don't have the SAT button.
