Dimming feature not on XE

Just noticed that my new 08 XE crew cab does not come equipped with the dimming thingamagigee that my friends 04 SE has..... Not a big deal but if it ain't expensive I might go out of my way to install this.

Basically its that scroll wheel on the left of the steering wheel that dims the dash and radio lights.

Anybody knows what this costs and how easy the install would be, or should I just forget it.

Re: Dimming feature not on XE

Every vehicle i ever owned, 04 XE included, had the dimmer switch for the gauge cluster lights. It is once in a blue moon that i ever used it, if the 08's don't have them i would not miss it. Just my 2 cents.

Re: Dimming feature not on XE

Shocking! Wierd! Visit the dealer and get a price on the dimmer. It may just plug in. Let us know what you find out. Also, try one of our online sponsors for your nissan parts.

Re: Dimming feature not on XE

My buddy didn't even know he had one, I guess its just one of those features you wouldn't mind having, but could definately live with out...... I guess I'll ask the dealer to see if its worth installing (money/time wise.)

I wonder if the dimmer would work if you have an aftermarket stereo? Will it dim the aftermarket stereo just like the factory RF.

Re: Dimming feature not on XE

Its there but its been relocated to the trip button I believe. I'll have to go look at the owners manual again to be sure.

Re: Dimming feature not on XE

DUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGhhhhh, (Doinky Doink) I discovered the dimmer, it just got relocated to the gauges trip reset on the left, just turn the dial and dim or brighter they go.

I thought I didn't have a dimmer but it was just relocated, I'm so happy, Thanks fellas I feel like a dork. I am going to go through my owners manual to see if I discover any other goodies.

Re: Dimming feature not on XE

Funny we all do the same, but glad you found it. When I first picked up the 08 I had the same problem because it wasnt in the old spot like on my 06 until I had to read the owners manual.
