Step Rails/Oil Filter Wrench?

Hi,
I have installed splash guards and hood protecter, they look and fit very good. Also installed a brake controller for my trailers and that was pretty easy to do but how are the step rails to do? I havent bought any yet because of the price but my girlfriend complains about getting into the truck because of the height of it. I really haven't seen any of the factory step rails on a truck yet but have any of you guys installed them yet? Are they as simple as the splash guards where? Nissan sure sends a excellent set of instructions. How about an oil filter wrench for the factory oil filters? I had a hell of a time trying to change the original filter at my 1500 mile oil change. It was way to tight and I didn't have a wrench that would work through the off road skid plate opening they give you. It is a good setup if I could find the right filter wrench. Thanks the Titan Nut

Nut,

There is a writeup in the FAQ's I did for the step rails here:

http://titantalk.com/showthread.php?t=10112

I also have the file at home with some pics in it as well I can send to your e-mail when I get home today.

Install is extremely straight forward and only requires a socket wrench with a 12mm deepwell socket and a flathead screwdriver.

Also, there are a few guys in the pics section with the factory ones shown on thier truck. I haven't taken any new pics yet and put them on the cardomain page. Here is Howie Kalua's truck with the factory ones:

My wife is 'Vertically challenged' as well and she thanks me continously for adding them. (PS: It also makes washing the roof of the truck much easier now).

Chris

I just had some Onki running boards put on yesterday. The installer told me it was pretty simple except for the wiring, which he said wasn't tough if you knew what you were doing. I'll get some pics up soon, as soon as I get my fog lights and bumper/grille insert done. The Onki are very nice, the lights work off your courtesy lights so they light up with your keyless remote and they also cast beams under the running board so you can see puddles, rocks, etc. at night. It also looks cool when you hit the unlock at night

Oil filter wrench. I suggest bring along your filter to any motorcycle shop & ask for the one that fits on the end of a standard 1/2" drive. I'm telling you this is an absolute piece of cake with the typical motorcycle wrench.

I installed my running boards last week. Extremely simple install. The instructions that come with the kit are bang on. As stated earlier in this thread, all you need is a 12mm deep socket and a flat screwdriver. There are 18 nut and bolts that you have to put on. One thing.....you have to use the screwdriver to take out a plug that covers a bolt hole. Dont try to pry it out, you will work like a bastard to do it...after a couple of tries I realized that it easily screws out....duh....anyway if you have any questions let me know and I will help, it took me less than an hour to do the whole job, and it looks completely different. I will try to attach a pic.

I found a filter wrench that fits on a 3\8" socket and fits over the end like a cup at Walmart for like $4. Works very well.

I have that also. Funny thing is I was going to use it for the filter on my lawn tractor, but it was too small. My 18HP lawn mower has a bigger oil filter than the Titan.
