Power Folding Mirrors Anyone?

Hello everyone...I posted a similar thread a few weeks ago and I got zero responses. I am hoping somebody has heard of these things and may know if they are or will be an aftermarket kit available. I am looking for power folding tow mirrors for the Titan. I see kits all over the internet for Honda and Nissan cars and I am hoping they do the same for trucks. I would think there would be more demand for power folding truck mirrors vs. cars. I think most of the car fanatics are installing them for pure entertainment and "coolness" factors. Like most new homes these days, the garage doors themselves are not all that wide. I have a three car garage with three separate doors that are 94 inches wide. In order to get the Titan to fit, these mirrors are necessary for me to close the deal and buy a Titan. I have tried to convince myself to just manually fold the mirrors in since I love this truck, but over time this would become a pain in the butt to do every time I go in and out of the garage. So if anybody has any suggestions are knows anything about these mirrors, PLEASE give me your two cents! I want this truck but I need a practical solution to this problem! Thanks

Kevin

Kevin,

I haven't seen anything specifically for a Titan/Armada as of yet. But, you might want to investigate the fitament of the upscale lincoln SUV or the Expedition. Thier tow type mirrors are power I believe and might work.

Sorry I can't help more.

Chris

I fold mine everyday. No big deal.

Does anyone have the exterior dimension with only one tow mirror folded in? I am thinking that maybe if I roll the window down and fold in the driver side mirror only then the overall width might be be managable to manover into the garage. Some might say I am being really lazy by not getting out to fold the other mirror in and out and I would have to agree if I lived in a sunny state, but being in the Seattle area, 9 months out of the year you really don't want to get out if you have to! Also I would measure this dimension myself if my local nissan dealer actually had one in stock! I just stopped by this morning to check their inventory and they only have one KC Titan without the tow mirrors.

The wind was blowing my plumb bob around a little, but with Big Tow Mirrors out (but not telescoped out) I get about 98 inches. Folding the driver side mirror in, I get about 90 inches. Nissan gives 78.8 for the width w/o mirrors.

Okay, thanks bestatchess for taking the time to get this measurement for me. Well at 90 inches wide, it would give me 2 inches of clearance on both side of the garage door. Pretty tight, but I am sure after a few tries and going slow I should master it. Thanks

Kevin,

Make sure your 'deep' enough as well :-)

Ours has about 2 inches front and back after we get her in. Measured the garage 3 times before we even went and drove the truck.

No problem in depth or hieght. My garage is just shy of 300 inches deep and the door opening is about 103 inches high. I pulled some sheet rock off of the garage to check out the door frame, but it would require extensive changes to put a wider door in. Oh well, I guess I will just have to fold a mirror in or until I find power folding mirrors. Say, anyone know if the 2005 Titan will be any different then the 04? Now I am just debaiting on getting an 04 now or waiting a half a year or so and get a 05? Maybe the 05 will have some of the "bugs" worked out of it?

Yes, should be well within the limits of human capability, compared to say neural microsurgery or landing an F-4 on the deck of a carrier at night in state 8 seas.

I have up until today been folding both mirrors to enter my garage. Having got a feel for the Titan going through my garage door opening (around 93 inches) I only folded the drivers side today and had no problems parking the titan in the garage. I have the standard mirrors, not the the tow mirrors.

For me it was just a case of getting used to the feel of this truck before feeling comfortable attempting this. I had a GMC sierra before the Titan and used to do the same although it was a little narrower, hence taking a month before trying the Titan.

Hope this helps

I am also looking for power folding mirrors. I believe the Infinity QX56 has these, and from the photos I've seen, they appear to look the same as Titan / Armada mirrors. As it is I fold in my driver mirror every time I enter the garage, no big deal, but in the rain.... Anyway, maybe I'll swing by an Infinity dealership soon and check it out. I'm sure the salesmen will be disappointed to find out I'm not interested in trading in my Titan, only interested in their mirrors!!!

Hey, why you are at it, check the Infinity's headrests. I believe they have tilt adjust on them. Maybe they will fit the Titan?

Don't look inside! I'm still trying to justify buying that wood steering wheel & console trim. Apparently nissan does have some good leather too. Unfortunatly it all ended up at the infinitie plant. Don't look.

Same here on folding in driver side mirror. I have about 3/4" clearance with mirrors extended. I can make it in allright but backing out is a little nerve racking. I've thought about using some kind of convex mirrors positioned in my garage, but folding driver side mirror is easy enough.

My wife doesn't seem to need electric folding mirrors she just drives on in and sometimes they fold in on their own and sometimes they break off. But I have fixed the problem with too many woodwrking tools for her to get in the garage anymore.
Her and my daughter used to get mad about sawdust on their cars and I told them to quit parking in my shop.
