Mike Z,
The chrome ones that you found on ebay are also sold in black, I sent the guy a message a while back and he told me he has them in black also.

Hey MikeZ, are these the same ones you saw on ebay? I'm thinkin bout these in black for my smoke xe. A lot cheaper than dealer @ $99, and no holes to drill. Also avail in chrome.

Hey RockyMtnTitan,
Give me back my truck!!! I have the exact same situation as you do, '04 CC XE in Smoke. I just picked it up last week (love it!!!!), and some moron slammed his door into my driver side door. Would've been nice to have the molding before, but I want to get it now. Would you mind taking some pics and posting them here if you decide to get the black molding? I would appreciate it. Thanks and good luck.

LOL!....Yeah, I think Smoke must be the most popular color on the Titan.

Ouch!! That's gotta hurt......gettin dinged already. I've had my truck about a month, and been lucky.....so far. I'm pretty sure I'll get these, but it'd be nice to know if anyone here has installed them to see if they like them or not. If I do get them, I'll def post pics for everyone.

After owning an '03 Miata for 16 months with no door dings and now only having my titan for three weeks and already having ONE - I figure with a truck this wide its inevitable. (My miata could hide in a parking spot).

I just park away from other cars.

I too looked at body side molding, however door heights are all different and where I rec'd my door ding wouldn't have been covered by the molding.

Besides, I like the looks of the clean lines on the XE.

After talking to my dealers service manager, we found that the step rails were the best protection. Even if the truck has the factory body side molding, they're to low to do any more protection, than the step rails. So the step rails will protect from a car door. However, the low placement of the body side moldings wouldn't protect the doors from another truck's door.

To get near the best protection, install the side rails plus install after market body side moldings centered on the door. You should be covered for car doors and truck doors.

To get the best protection, park in the back of the lot by several open spaces, as I do. I've had way to many cars get 'dented' and side scraped. I won't park next to other cars now.

Have a good one.

Thanks for the info. Maybe I'll install them slightly higher than the oem's for more protection. Eventually, I'll add the step rails as well.

Thanks......always good to get feedback on ebayers. I ordered the black moldings today, and Steve Hammer replied to a question I had immediately. Remarkable considering this is Thanksgiving! Should have them in a few days. I'll let you all know my opinion of these & post a couple pics after install.

Re: Body side molding

I installed the chrome molding kit from Ebay and it doesn't look too bad I now have to get some shinnier wheels. I will figure out how to post some pictures. I also have an 04 smoke CC. I had a nasty ding to hide on each side at the same height. I will need to measure the stock molding height to tell you how much higher it actually is.

General thought, if a dealer does not sell a part of vehicle you bought from them, ask how will you fix my vehicle if it is ever hit? I've read comments like yours so many times, it doesn't make sense on behalf of any dealer to say this.

P.S. I can't get touchup paint from dealer in spraycans or small bottle, not available from Dupli-Color either. Somebody online does a custom mix Spraycan for $22 though. Need to "properly" match-paint my Armada type spoiler. BW9 Majestic Blue. Very disappointed. Simple stuff.

On a brighter note, thanks guys for posting of details and info on black moulding on ebay. I've got 06 CC XE. Would like to matchpaint them. Didn't know about holes in door.

For now, I added dull black rubber strip to edge of doors for a little protection. Bought truck version at Pepboys, blends well for OEM appearance. Doesn't stand out.
