New Door Speakers...

Does anybody know the RMS to the speakers on the stock head unit with out the Fosgate system. I'm thinking about putting new speakers in the doors but i dont want to spend a ton on an amp and new head unit and everything. Has anybody done this yet? Any suggestions on a specific speaker? Thanks.

It is easier to blow speakers by not feeding them enough power rather than giving them too much.

Actually, you can never give a speaker too little power. You can however give it alot of volume from an underpowered amplifier. This creates distortion which is very harmful to speakers. Clean, amplified power will be much less likely to damage a speaker at any (reasonable) volume levels...high or low. However, I see your point and you are right when I think that you are trying to say not to waste time buying new speakers without also investing in an amplifier as well.

Look for highly efficient speakers. Check out the speaker sensitivity number and make sure it is above 90. Anything above 90 is considered efficient. Go to the store and listen to speakers using a low powered head unit or poorly powered head unit.
