Pathfinder Armada Question

Hi Guys, I am about to purchase a new Armada this weekend and I would like to find out if its possible to get an after market stereo put it, the dash seems like there is no place to put a head unit. this will be the first vehicle i got after market anything in so i am a bit dumb about how to go about getting this stuff done.

Can i order my new car with just a hole so the installer can put a new navigation headunit in and no speakers so i can get new ones? i'd rather not pay for a radio and speakers that i am gonna replace anyway.

or do they have to make a new whole front radio dash part thing?

also the guy at car toys quoted me between 4500-5000 usd to get a kick *** sytem with navi and dvd player and really nice speakers and subs, is that guy ripping me off or is that a reasonable price?

sorry if this is the worng forums, i couldnt find a armada forums and i figure the titan is kinda similar so you guys might know the answer.

sorry for being such a no0b!

They are very similar and I do not see why you could not add the aftermarket stuff. Search the word stereo or radio on here and see a few pics so far.

That said though, do not get the pkg in the Armada with the Nav in it. From what I understand, the NAv stuff won't work with other radios so you just wasted money there.

1. There is an Armada dash plate with a 2 DIN opening (with dimples for the rear air controls) that is now selling, as discussed in other threads. This would allow you to install an after market head unit, although you would need to confirm its compatibility with your intended aftermarket unit.

2. Chrysler was sued on antitrust causes of action by after market stereo installers on the theory that Chrysler was illegally tying the purchase of the car to the required purchase of an OEM stereo. Unfortunately, Chrysler prevailed in that case, so the car makers don't feel any need to let go of that profit center. So, no, I don't think that you can order without a radio, although I agree that would be nice.

thanks guys, i appreciate your help a lot. Would i just leave it up to the guy doing my installation to order the right parts or should i order it ahead of time and give him the dash plate? If so where do i call to get it and what do i speciifcially ask for? Also is 2 din big enough for a screen? din = deck in dash?

would they just cut holes where the dimples are to put the rear ac knobs back?

also the navigation dvd head unit the guy was reccomending was a kenwood one, do you think kenwood is a good brand for this stuff?

thanks again for all your help, i appreciate it, and this is good news about having a dash replacement that can work

get it......it's as good as you think it will be.

My XM arrived today and this weekend I'll have time for the XM install. I wouldn't waste my time or effort on aftermarket stereo. That's just me though. Good luck.

Love the Armada.

Smile Stereo Wiring Harness for Titan / Armada

Metra 80-7550 harness kit works with non-Bose systems. Color code for wiring on back of package. This harness plugs directly into factory harness. I purchased from Circuit City today for $17.00
