running board lights

more free weekend time...

NexLite Running Lights - a discreet, chrome accent - the lights look awesome. Install was about 4 hours.

as requested...

not as bright as the pictures would have you believe - even the slightest camera shake attenuates the brightness.

connection info

The leads are run up inside the door panel (from under the running boards) an dtucked away with Silver (ahem, grey) electricians tape. They run to the inside of the cab through the already existing wire-duct used by the door and mirror wires. They then connect to a newly added illuminated switch and off to the +12v (on with accessories only) connection I ran from the BCM. I could have alos run them to any of thelighting connections (Fog, Headlights or DRLs) but I wanted independant operation. The 2 sides of the truck are connected via an electricians wire duct (heavy aluminum) which runs across the truck - waterproof, scruff resistant and not the lowest point under the rig. Pretty straight forward actually.

I especially like the metal ducts underneath and lighted switches on the lower dash.

How do your extra fog lights in the lower grill come on?(other switch locations?)

DRL Connections

The DRL relay connection has power applied only while the key is in the "ON" position (turned on/off via a wireless remote). Some photos of the relay and remote receiver I needed to seal the deal. The photos have prompted me to go clean this wiring up - I should be ashamed of myself!

(Ken, I should have posted this here in the 1st place )

Good luck

p.s., the second illuminated switch is not currently connected - but I'm sure I can come up with a need for it - it's a solution looking for a problem. Volant Air Intake on it's way...stay tuned.
