ok guys i need someone help on this one. i will be receiving my new Titan in a few weeks and i am currently planning my audio system for it. i am getting ready to build my box and i need to know how much space i am going to have to work with.
i need to know how much room is under the rear seat in the king cab. more specifically, i need to know the heigth from the bottom of the rear seat to the floor as well as the width from the edge of the seat to the transmission hump. by that i mean how far from the rear door is it to the transmission hump. i also need to know if the rear seat tapers (ie. the distance from the bottom of the seat gets closer to the floor) as you approach the rear of the cab. i know that sounds sort of hard to understand without pictures, but thats the best i can do. maybe someone would be nice enough to meause that for me or perhaps someone who has already built a dual sub enclosure for underneath the rear seats can give me the measurements they used. thanks alot to those that can help me out!!

get the truck and then have a fiberglass box made under the rear seat which hugs all the tapers. You spend more but you get more volume. Have it done professionally
Here's the dimensions for the box I made. They might be off by a small fraction here or there because I lost my original sketches (because I drew it on the MDF ) But I did take the measurements just now from the actual box. This is about as tight as you can get and still have the seats lock down. In fact I had to remove the shopping bag hangers to get the seat to latch, even still you have to slam it. The main reason is I mounted the 8"s facing outwards. If you are building a downfiring box, you could reduce the dimensions on the front to make it an easier fit.
hey greg! i noticed you were in Lex, thats cool, i might need to check out your truck sometime to get a little fix until mine comes in
benjr, that is a good idea, but honestly i dont know any place that could do such a thing. not to mention i sort of like to do my own work. since i just need something simple, i will make it out of wood.
i am looking to put either two 8" or two 10" Solo Baric L5's under the rear seat and i just need to know how large of a box is possible. this will tell me how much air space i will have and thus make my sub decision a little bit more educated. i dont want to buy the 10's if only the 8's will fit and i wont buy the 8's if the 10's will fit lol
thanks again guys!

I don't have the specs but was offering to let KYTITAN come over and help him measure mine since we're in neighboring towns in KY.
Seems a rather long drive from Cali. since the good Sammy already has the specs. But with a new Titan a long drive doesn't seem all that bad.
Driving mine to Austin, TX next week to see my daughter, (I'll keep an eye out for one armed drunks just in case they only do come from TX).
My daughter ordered a Red CC SE last week, ( for herself), while having the computer upgrade on her husbands Maxima. Do you think she'll notice any difference after driving her Saturn SCll coupe for the last four years?

I added a little sketch of the dimensions of the box I made in the post above. This box will fit under the rear driver side seat, between the left side of the seat to the trans hump.
BTW: While driving to work today my sub started making a lot of deep bass, even as I paused the music. I turned it off, then back on, now my sub isn't working at all. Once home I started checking everything, the amp light was on, all wires connected. I even tried using a LOC instead of the amp's built in LOC, and even tried an alternate sub. Nothing. So I removed the amp and as I was picking it up, you could hear something rattling around in it. Clearly something blew and it's KIA. What should have been an easy (and cheap) install of my new Infinity sub has just become a huge PITA and in the wallet.
Once again SAMMY IS THE MAN!!!!! WILL SOMEONE PLEASE MAKE THIS GUY A MODERATOR??
thx for the drawing, and I am so sorry to hear about the sub issue/ you think the map blew?? how---were you still drawing a signal post amplifier??? that may have been the issue maybe as maybe the amp is sending out some weird signal, that joggled the circuits int he amp?? that really sucks though

It's at least worth looking at. A complete custom fab. may be better but power tools in my hands is a bad idea.
I have it fitted with two 10"s and a 500W amp. I have allways heard "you can't have too much bass". Yes you can. I have my HU SW level set to -6 and it still tends to overpower my front stage. WOW...
I can post a picture if you wanna see it in my truck...
oops... I wasn't familiar with that square sub. I guess you'll be doing the work yourself.

Haha, thanks Smoketitan. Yes I was still drawing signal post oem amp, perhaps that's what did it. The amp I was using was about a 6 year old RF Punch 250 (250 watts RMS bridged) so it was probably on it's last legs anyways. If you remember I just got back from a nearly 1,000 mile trip, so all that listening to the stereo might have helped it to its death. Either way, now I'm in the market for a new amp as well. I'll probably try for something in the 300-400 watt range. The Infinity 10" I bought is rated for 275 watt rms, but has a peak loading of 1000 watts, so should handle something in that range well. Once I get the new box made I'll be sure and start a new topic with pictures and dimensions. I plan on making it down firing, and it will probably have to be a bit wider than my original 20" version to get the full .75 cu ft required for a sealed enclosure.
Recently, I took my Titan CC to a customer of mine that I sell MDF so that he could measure the space under the seat. He then made the box, which is also sprayed with a bed liner type coating, and then installed it for me with the newest RF P8004 punch amp (800 watts). Man does this thing sound good even with the factory speakers. He ran a 10-1 converter in the back of the stereo because I didn't want to mess with the Navigation system or other electronics that all seems somewhat linked to the stereo. This help improve on the 35 watts per channel the stereo is now. I will admit that when I do get the stereo volume all the way up there is a little distortion from the speakers. Soon I will cure that problem with a complete change out of speakers. Right now if you turn it up (country and rock only) you are not able to hear yourself talk and you get a nice massage from the bass it puts out.
If you go to their website now there will not be a picture of the box, so I attached one. If you would like to call them their number is (972) 962-8953. Now since they are a manufacturer they won't be able to sell direct, but they can tell you a place they sell too that might be close to you. This box definitely looks better than a carpeted grey/black box. Since they spray this coating on it is basically sealed completely from moisture (not that water should be in you back seat) or from being knock apart or torn.
That was the first addition, this past week I order some Helo wheels, brush guard, PIAA fog lights, hood wind deflector, K&N injection system and the Truxedo low profile cover. Last week I added the exhaust system with 2.25" pipes, flowmaster 70 and 3" steel tips. My pocket book hurts a little, but I wanted to get it all over now. It should be finished in about two weeks. Can't wait.
hey guys thanks for the great info. i am wondeing if the box sammy made would work in my King Cab. some of you may have thought i had a Crew Cab because i mistakenly put that in my original post. i apologize for any miscommunication.
anyways, if anybody knows wether the Crew Cab box will work in the King Cab, i would appreciate them passing that information my way.
joel, i was thinking of doing the very same thing, but they do not make a box with the square cut outs for the Solo Barics. this will leave me to either make my own box or find a shop somewhere that can make a box for the Solo's.
