DVD player wiring question

Has anyone wired an aftermarket DVD to work with the factory AV switch? What I really want is to get the audio to go to the rear IR transmitter. For some reason the AUX shows on the rear control but you can't select it...at least mine won't....I can't select the DVD either but figure thats because I don't have on installed. Here is the wiring diagram for the dvd to HU. I'm guessing the FES enable turns on the dvd player, and the audio enable turns the audio on. If I were to hook into the FES in lines (assuming those are line level inputs) is there something I could do with the "enable" line to fool it into thinking there was a factory DVD installed?

Can anyone select the AUX on the rear controls and listen to something else up front? If you can I'm assuming you have the factory DVD??????

Not sure this address your question directly but I have a DVD/CD/CDRW player wired directly into the 'psuedo' Rockford Fosgate system, attached w/ velcro tape inside the glove compatment for easy access. I have three TFT/LCD screens, one 7" TFT/LCD in the passenger visor, two 6" TFT/LCDs into the backside of each headrest. The installers struggled getting the wireless headsets to receive an audio signal until they figured that a piece of black electrical tape needed to cover the stock rear overhead AV infared receiver; it was confusing the infared they installed on the side B pilar. Also, they installed a toggle switch underneath the dash so I can play the sound over my RF system when I tune the radio to FM89.1 when it is switched "on". My 4 year old daughter thinks my truck is cooler than Mom's LS400 now! Also, the kids at her pre-school are insanely jealous when we roll up and she is watching Dora the Explorer in the back! No more: "Are we there yet Dad?" It's more like: "Dad may I finish watching my DVD before we have to get out!".
The other cool thing is I have the front seat visor screen wired to a color wide angle back-up camera mounted under the bumper but on top of the hitch so when I put the truck in reverse I can see what is directly behind me. Similar to the Lexus RX330.
I thought about tackling this with my mechanic neighbor but I went to the Swap Shop in Sunrise Fl. and got everything, including installation for $1,050.00 and done in about 4 hours.

Thanks for the response but what I want is to hardwire the system in and make it work with the factory IR and rear controls.

Sorry to leave you in the cold llajumpvid, I don't have any info for you but donmecca has me interested as well. I looked but couldn't find any pics of your truck on the forum. Would love to see how it looks.

I have the RF system with no NAV, no DVD, and I can select AUX from the rear. Two things - first, "rear control on" needs to be selected up front (REAR AV button on mine) , second: there needs to be a source (something plugged into the AUX jack) .Then you can turn off rear speakers and listen through IR headphones or plug into rear headphone jack and listen to cd, radio, or aux. In other words, I can only select and listen to what there is a source for. I'm assuming you could hardwire an aftermarket DVD to the AUX input or REAR AV, and use stock IR transmitter.

Thanks for the info. I have my dvd spliced into the AUX behind the dash. I will try playing something through the dash jack and see if I can get it to work. I plugged a mini-jack in without playing anything though and couldn't get it to work but maybe it needs to have a source playing (through the jack) to get it to work....I'll have to try it out tonight.

Well mine doesn't work this way. I wish it did, I posted here and else where asking if others could select AUX, and the few responses I got were that no one could select AUX on the rear controls unless you select AUX on the dash then the rear controls will show AUX but you can't select it. I unplugged my DVD and hooked the audio through the dash jack directly and still couldn't select the rear. All I can get is am fm or cd to select.

Arrow update

with XM installed,(no DVD, no NAV) selecting AUX in the rear plays XM radio. Pluggin MP3 player into aux jack will play media through all speakers, but if aux is selected in the rear, you still get XM radio through the headphones, MP3 through the front speakers. I guess I'll need to try hardwiring to DVD input.

I went to the Swap Shop in Sunrise by Sunrise Blvd. just east of 441. Sound Market, 786-419-1494 or 786-553-9806, The owner's name is Harold. There are no less than 45 seperate "tent"shops. I took my time and shopped around and watched some of the installers work. I found this shop was careful, experienced and agreed to a "lifetime" warranty on their install labor (loose wires, trime etc.), one year full replacement on componets, in addition the warranty provided by the manufacturer.
They did a nice job hiding everything, sewing the monitors into the seat headrests and mounting the back-up camera, running the wires under the chasis. The guy gave me a ride to my house so I wouldn't have to hang around for hours w/ my little girl. I love the visor DVD, it has the best pictue quality of the three. I'll take some pics this weekend and post them so you can see the install. I'm thinking of upgrading the fake RF system w/ a real amp and speakers, if I do they will do it for me!
