newb stereo questions

Well, Im trying to help my stereo system along with some upgrades and have a few questions. I have a bazooka and amp for the bazooka to install from my previous SUV. While the bazooka is not ideal for a truck it will work for now.

Im going to put infinity speakers in at least the front. I think they were one step down from the Infinity Perfects. The dealer advised that I install a seperate amp for the speakers. I have had a bit lesser quality infinity speakers in other vehicles without the amp so Im curious if I need the amp for these.

Im keeping the head unit and maybe will install the sirrius unit as well. Ive seen all the other stereo threads but most of that info is way over my head. Im looking for any kind of advice on my options from those with the know how

Shawn

I guess I got the midline stereo with the tweeters up on the dash, with 6 cd changer.

eakes, smoketitan, sammysandbag & a few others are definitely in the know.

I think they would need to know which stereo you have: base, midline or RF.

You will want to add an aftermarket amp if you plan to run aftermarket speakers. Infinity Kappas need good clean power in order to sound good. I also believe the factory speakers are 2 ohm, where as aftermarket speakers are 4 ohm. If you ran a 4 ohm speaker off the oem amp, your power would be cut in half. I suggest you get a 4 channel amp so you can upgrade the rear channels in the future.
