Phoenix Gold - any good?

Hi all,

Forgive my ignorance, but I've been out of the car audio world for a little while.

Just curious if anyone knows anything about the Phoenix Gold Octane R-9.0 5 channel amps. Here's a link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...sPageName=WDVW

The car audio guys pointed me to a Crossfire 700watt, but they want $500! Is the Phoenix Gold comparable to the Crossfire? The Phoenix is 150wx4 and 400w/mono. The top end (150x4) carrys a 4 ohm load and the bottom is 2 ohm mono.

I will be driving 2 pairs of MB Quart (reference series) RCE 216 components (6.5 and a tweet) and 2 MB Quart RWE 12" subs. All speakers are 4 ohm. I will run the subs in series mono. The head unit is a Premier DHP-930.

Any opinions of Phoenix Gold amps would be appreciated! The other brands I were looking at were a/d/s and Precision Power (PPI). Your thoughts?

Thanks!

that PG---only puts out that type pf power at 14.4v and note that this is not the rms value this is the peak as PG for some reason list their products with the peak not rms--so it is not really REAl power--but a good cheap alternative if all you are runnig is the mbquarts. you want to look at more power for 2 12's though

Anyone have any experience with this amp or atleast the brand?

Here is a good thread of opinions on PG. Quick review - not as reliable as in past days, not as clear, but still better than half the amps out with similiar ratings and price.
