Smile Challenger Tube Steps

All,

I ordered the challenger tube steps from Rocky Mountain Suspention on Friday. http://www.rockymountainsusp.com/Ner...htm#Challenger
They should be in in a couple of weeks. I'll post reviews and picks of the installation and final results. I can say that the customer service over the phone was fantastic.

I really like Nissan's side bars except they don't offer chrome/stainless steel. It seems odd when the bumpers, door handles, and mirrors are chrome.

Anyone else out ther try these yet? Any likes/dislikes?

Happy 4th!

Hadn't seen those yet and they look good. What are they charging for shipping if you don't mind me asking?

The total for the bars/tax/shipping come just shy of $420, so the shipping comes to about $75 or so.

Update

Just an update... The step bars are on backorder and the mfr. estimates they'll be ready to ship in the first or second week of August.

Oh well, I'll have to wait a little longer.

I promise pics and review once I do get them though.

avroflyer, when did you place your order? It'd be interesting to see if they batch their orders, or if they do them on demand.

Angry Grrrrrrr!

All did not go well.

The steps were packaged very well - no transit damage. Instructions were clear and easy to follow.

So much for the good. Now the bad.

It appears that the mfr.(MAAP) sent the wrong mounting brackets. Once the brackets were installed on the truck, they were 2 inches shy of the mounting points on the rail. The brackets are 55" tip to tip and the mount points on the rail are 57" tip to tip.

It's after hours, so I'll have to get up with them tommorrow.

I'll let you know what happens...

Angry Measure twice, cut once...

Looks like they had a little manufacturing fubar. They put the mounting brackets in the wrong position on a whole batch of tube steps.

I spoke with the mfr. today and they said that they had put the bracket in backwards, causing the 2" discrepancy. The brackets that mount to the truck are fine, they use the same ones for both the CC and KC.

They are sending out a new set of tube steps today, so I should have them around Monday or Tuesday.

Thumbs up Finally!

Okey dokey folks. The second set of tube steps came in today and were the correct size. Installation was a breeze... it took about 30 min. give or take. The only specialty tool needy is a torque wrench. You'll need one that can be set for 10 - 25 ft pounds.

Pics below. Please pardon the dirty vehicle, nothing but rainy weekends here lately.

If you have any question or comments let me know.

Dula

I like those Dula! If they look good on your truck, they'll look good on mine. What's the part number(s)?

Thanks. I liked this style b/c I though they looked 'beefier' than some of the other nerf bars available. I like the design of the Nissan Bars, but I really thought chrome looked better with all the chrome accents we have.

Just follow the link in the first post of this thread for the part numbers. They also have a matte black available.
