Question Door ding gaurd removal?

I've been shopping Titans for so long I should know the answer but... Do all Titans come with the door ding gaurds (or whatever they are called)? If so, is the a procedure for removing them?

The XE's do not have the side mouldings.

As far as removal, I'm not sure. I'm 95% sure that it is more than glue holding those on.

Before we bought our Titan, my wife and I saw one in a campground. It wa an XE without the door moldings. We both thought without the molding the truck look cheap and unfinished. Too much flat sheet metal on the doors. I much prefer to have the door moldings on my SE. All new vehicles, especially Titans have extremely thin sheet metal, and without those moldings I can only imagine how bad the doors would look after a few parking lot dings.

Just a personal opinion, but then again, that's what this thread seems to be about.

The door molding is held on by double sided tape, basically the same stuff used to hold all the emblems on with.

body side molding has holes

there are holes drilled into the body and doors that the body side molding hangs to and is glued on to.
if you remove it it will expose the holes.
you will have to fill them in with bondo or fiberglass, etc. and prime and paint them if you want it to look like an XE!!!

Are you sure? I saw a confused XE owner that thought the moldings looked good and ordered them. They came in at parts dept. and only had the adhesive, NO pins or clips to suggest holes.
I like the clean look of NO moldings. I pulled them off my last car also.

To me, it is as tacky as pinstriping

According to post by Partspeddler the door trim may be held by pins as well.

The rear doors are only attached with 3M tape, but the front has clips in them, so there would be holes in the front doors if you remove them.
