I took the SolidWorks model of my sealed box that I made a couple of days ago and made a cardboard prototype version of it. It fits well, I but I'm going to have to drop the sub down into the box using an extra ridge so that the seat can easily fold down with no worries. I also shaved off a 1/4" in height overall to leave room for the grill. But I extended it 0.5" in length.
The end result is a box that has an internal volume of 0.73 cubic feet, assuming 3/4" wall thickness ( the only thickness of MDF i could find). This volume is 0.02 cubic feet short of my goal, not including volumetric losses to the ridge for my sub.
Still, it looks good, leaves plenty of room for rear seat passengers, and should* sound nice.
I am currently updating the drawing to turn it into an assembly with multiple parts and dimensions.
wow man that looks awesome! my king cab will be here in a few weeks and i cant wait to start on my project what kind of sub are you running?
also, as for the muffled sound, you should not have to worry about that with a sub. low frequency sound waves are not deadened like high frequency sounds are. a sub will sound great under the seat.

I modified the last design to add a part going over the transmission hump in the rear seat area. Although more complicated, I can acheive an internal volume of 0.786 cubic feet. This design is a lot more tolerant, allowing more space between the box and the seat and it does not protrude out as far from the seat.
I might end up going with this design. I think this is how your 2nd design ended up, right Sammy?
your rear ht needs to ne no more than 6-3/4 or your seat will not latch, or you will have top recess the sub which decreases internal volume, and that 8" may need to ne more like 7 to 7.5" as your sib will need some room to move under that seat or it will sound muffled. and you only need 2.5" to go over the tranny hump, and to get the box under the lip of your seat to make it look better and security so no one can look in your window and see it your 14" should be more like 12". and if you are going to go over the tranny why not extend it at least 10" for more volume where you have 5". I built one like this and it rocked. took it out as my sons ears were ringing from one 10 on 250w. I am now trying fiberglass under the front seat. Sammy has a very nice box also--much cleaner than mine as I am not that great with woodwork
If you are gonna downfire, you need to lift the bottom of the box at least 1 1/2" - 2" off the ground. The greater distance from the floor, the better it will sound. If you are gonna fire upward, I recommend a grill guard.

What do you mean by downfire? do you mean putting the box upside downa and shooting the sub into teh floor? i bought a metal 10" grill guard from circuit city for $10 and plan on sticking that on top.
I'm guessing in going to fire the sub upward against the seat.
In case anyone is interested. I got this box for one 10" from best buy, fits pretty darn good. got it a while ago for my last truck but they probably still have it. I think was around $50. I put in a Fosgate He2 and sounds great.

wheres the sub at?? on the bottom---how does it have room to move if it is hitting the ground ?? I dont get it--is it lifted at all??

Yes, that is what I mean. However, I really doubt you will be able to do it with that sub. You would need a sub with a 4" mounting depth or less. That way, you can get at least a 2" lift. You can take it for what its worth, but downfiring in a truck sounds the best. I have heard multiple setups where we tested downfining and up-firing in a controlled enviroment with the same variables, and the downfiring box always came out on top. However, they do require more space. You can do it with your current setup, however you would have to do a seat lift. I do not recommend these if you have children, or people that costantly sit in the rear seat. It is safe, just not something I would trust for kids do to seatbelt repositioning and such. Big Plat's is not a typical setup, but if it works for him than that is great. I know my setup is not the best, but it works for me and that is all that should matter. Good luck and hoped this helped.
