Elemental Design

Anyone using anything from Elemental Design in their Titan? I have 2 K12s in my 99 Explorer and cant listen to anything else cause quality is so damn good. Im runnin them sealed with a JBL 1200 amp and Alpine 7850 HU and Alpine comps. Ive heard many systems before but I think my set up is best for sound qaulity vs. dollar investment. Just wondering if anyone has crammed the huge magneted Edesigns into the area below drivers seat.

I have a couple of Tru amps and two 6.5 component sets from Elemental Design, waiting for an 11KV2 sub

to go in a sealed box I made that fits under the driver side back seat.

You say that these are all you can listen to cause of the quality but then you go on to say your pushing JBL amps and Alpine components. Question your opinion on quality sound.

those tru amps that best" has will produce way better sound than any amp on themarket--except for maybe zapco, or mephis belle. those alpine comp are okay--but the ed (actually CDT HD) will output better in the mids, and midbass). and the onlything you are getting below the drivers seat is a woofer with NO MORE than 4" mounting depth. belive me I have tried and wasted three boxes, and two subs. Finally got a illusion audio ( not made anymore-very rare) 10" that works great. there is a shallow pioneer, earthquake, or blapunkt out there. or maybe two resonant enigineering 8" woofers will also work.

good luck

I agree with almost everything posted here. JBL amps are not bad at all. There mono series are some of the best subs amps out for the money. Even for the money, they beat almost all of the mainstream brands. Yes TRU amps are very good, however I would probably stick with the JBL for monetary reasons. Alpine R series comps are good but not as clear as the ED's. Chris, the system you have now is fine, however Smoke's point about the subs are right on. With ED's, you do not want to sacrifice performance for space. 4" mounting depth is perfect for downfiring. Some people here have just cramed boxes under the seat (much like I did with my Basslink, but that is only temporary bass fix). They sacrificed some quality and performance for convience. I recommend downfiring at all times in a truck. Smoke, sorry but I would personally stay away from Blaupunkt for subs. I have seen to many blown and their SQ is at best subpar. The RE8's are probably the best recommendation. I will more than likely go with a pair myself. So much power and space needed is about .35cuft sealed. Plus, there price is about $55 a piece. ED8's were the best 8 ever, but they stopped making them. If you can find one, pounce on it. You will never regret it.

I got the Alpine 7850 for $100 and the comps for $50 each. The K's I picked up for $100 in box and the JBL for $250. Im just a poor college student who cares about value and simplicity as well as good quality. I can only afford to buy cheap stuff thats lightly used and that I can install myself. But compared to systems costing 3x more, mine in the Explorer is still sweet. Low price and good quality is a tricky equilibrium.

butter is correct on all accords---only that I didnt buy a blapunkt--I have an illlusiona audio nd10 as my woofer--and it is under the front seat. I agree that downfiring will sound better throughout the truck--but under the front seat only firing up would work--

In regards to the mounting dept the 4" applies to the front seat, for downfiring uner the rear seat you could go as deep as 5.25" --but I would say go no more than 4.75" if you want to downfire--but others may have a better opinion

an re amps if you are on a budget look at the new phoenix gold xenon line--they produce some great power for not that much and they will output and be cleaner than amy jbl amp--jus check the specs. carmedia1.com has great prices, and for the full warranty have soundomain.com pricematch carmedia1.com. for example a 100x4 can be had for 339 shipped, and a a 200x2 (which can be bridged to 400x1) runs 370 shipped. thats pretty cheap for some good quality amps to run four speakers and a sub. or you can get a five channel amp like mine us amps 5600x (75x4+ 200x1 sub channel---very underated add 10% to those numbers) these can be had on ebay for like 400-550. very high quality amp

and dont forget buying used equipment from a reputable person is always a good option--it has worked for me--and saves a ton of money--just make sure you can trust who you buy from
