Should I get these wheels or not?

Alright here's my dilemna.
My friend who has some extremely rare Volk truck wheels (I have attached a picture of a wheel), is selling them to me for stupid cheap with tires. We put them on my truck to see how they look and...damn I wet my pants. But since they are 16" wheels, the front wheels were lightly scraping the brake caliper bracket on the inside of the wheel. So a spacer wont do crap. It looks like if we were to grind down 1/8" on the caliper bracket, the wheel will fit just fine. But I just feel that I will somehow be messing with something by doing that, or somehow later it will come back to haunt me because I grinded down the caliper bracket. My friend said that if anything was to happen to my brakes he would replace them. So.....what do you guys and gals think? Should I just grind them down and slap those wheels on, or back out on this deal?

I would pass also. I don't think grinding of your brakes is a good idea.

Especially with known Titan brake problems. All you need is the dealer telling you that since you grinded the caliper any braking issues are your fault.

16" wheels on a 1/2 ton truck will make it strictly street work. and you will most likely will have to lower the vehicle to lessen the wheel gap---17" and up if you go aftermarket--best bet is to go no lower than 18" for appearance and vehicle stance. Id say pass--and the breaks are already bad enough dont go moddin them to make them worse

I agree. The direction to go would be bigger, not smaller. I think the big brake kit from StopTech requires bigger wheels than even the 18" stock wheels.

I would go ask a tire shop about the rims if you like them, I do not think grinding anything on the truck would be a good idea either. Some shop might have an idea about what you can do with out changing to much. If you do get them some of the shops take in trades, something else to think about. I like to go off road and so I try and stay with the smaller rims too but don't think that to many of the 16inch one will fit the titan with the brakes they have on them. Just remember the smaller the rim the more sidewall the tire can have to be the same size as the stock. More rubber on the sides is better for off road. Bigger rim, shorter sides of the tire, better handling on the road but not good once you start hitting bumps or ruts.

I had no idea VOLK made TE37's for trucks. Since I am also involved in import and JDM, I've always liked VOLK wheels. They are cool, but not worth modding your brakes.

Those wheels are begging for a Pajero, Montero or a Nissan Patrol though...
