Decreased air flow due to billet grills?

I originally wanted to put a billet grill on only the bottom to cover that massive cavern of a hole but then I hesitated due to some comments from the meeting CaliforniaTitan had with the Product Engineering Investigations Division. Those comments are in Paragraph 15 of this thread - For info only...No replys allowed..Tech Discussion w/Nissan
They basically said that the warranty MAY be void if damage occurs due to obstructed air flow.

Question - has anyone with the extraneous billet grills noticed warmer than usual operating temperatures (overheating) when towing 5000 lbs or more in very warm temperatures (100F+)?

I have the E&G upper & lower grill, with the lower grill & central upper grill portion backed by 1/8 stainless steel mesh. I haven't towed, but haven't noticed any change on the temp guage at all. With all the sand they put on the roads in Colorado in the winter, I think the sand clogging the radiator fins resulting from no grill/screen will eventually restrict air flow more than a grill. I have used 1/8 mesh stainless screens to protect the radiators on several vehicles, with zero problems.

Perhaps in Phoenix, with those wonderful 120 degree August days, the considerations would be a bit different.

I have the Mr. Grill both top and bottom and it was 104 where I was a week ago and I have still not experienced any elevated temps. I have had mine several months, no towing though.

I put in only the lower grille from Mr. Grille because of the same concern. Just finished a 9000 mile trip around the country pulling a 5000# trailer in 100+ degree temps and steep hills. The engine temp never once moved off of where it always is. Don't worry about it.

Some of the worst pulls I did were in the hottest temps and steepest hills where I was only able to go 15-20 mph anyways so not much air getting forced through there in the first place.

If anyone has ever traveled RT49 in the sierra foothills you will know what I am talking about.

Thanks all for being the guinea pigs. Looks like I'll be gettin' billet-ized.
