RF Audio Upgrade and DVD Questions

I am picking up my Titan tomorrow and have a few questions about audio and video. I have read the threads about getting the proper bezel from the XE so I can rip out the CRAP audio system and install my Alpine XM/MP3 head end and tuner in the dash. Great info for my installer!

I intend on swapping out the OEM speakers, sub, and amp also. I hope to put my amp behind the rear passenger seat and a small sub in a box under one of the rear seats. Where are the 9(?) existing speaker locations, what are their sizes, and does anyone have any recommendations for aftermarket upgrade speakers? I count the 4 in the doors, the sub under the driver's seat and at least 1 in the dash -- where are the others?

My Titan also has the factory DVD system since I got the sunroof. Is it wired into the CRAP audio system also? I'm guessing I could wire it into the Alpine's AUX channel if I want to play the DVD's audio thru the whole car. However does the OEM DVD system have independent audio? Will my kids be able to watch and listen to their DVDs with the headphones while I listen to tunes or sports on the main audio system?

Thanks in advance -- I'm pretty pumped about the Titan -- I was shopping F150 SCrew and luckily checked out a Titan while Ford was doing their best to lose me as a customer -- I'm converted!

The Armada Bose system (which is probably the same clarion HU you have) has a seperate input for the dvd, it's not independant though.

The factory DVD equipment is integrated with the Fosgate radio system. When you pull out the RF, then the DVD is 'stranded'. I have seen no reports of someone connecting the factory DVD to an aftermarket HU. It is entirely possible that it could be done, what control features would remain is impossible to say until someone tries it.

There are 10 speakers in the CC version of the RF system: Three in the dash, two front door, four rear door and one subwoofer under the drivers seat. The KC version only has eight speakers since there are only two rear door speakers. The front door speakers are 6x9, the rear door are 6.5, the subwoofer is 6 all the rest are small tweeters.

Thank you for the replies. I think I have a handle on it now.

I ordered my face plate and am planning on installing my existing Alpine MP3/XM unit in the dash. I will be putting a 5 or 6 channel amp behind one of the rear passenger seats -- either Alpine, Eclipse, JL or Planet Audio. Getting an IR repeater to enable the wheel controls to work with my head unit.

I'm going with a 10" JL sub in a small box under the rear small-side seat. Going with 6.5 round component speakers in the rear doors. Up front 6.5" round components with the tweeter component in the side dash locations. I'm doing nothing with the front cernter speaker. 6.5" speakers will either be Eclipse, the new BAs or possbily JL.

Hopefully I can completely remove the sub under the driver's seat. Perhaps I can get the DVD to play out the door speakers but it's not that important -- DVD is really for the kids and their headphones so I don't mind it being 'stranded'.

Any further advice is appreciated ;-)
