I have run in to a snag before I even start. I stripped the RCA cables but there were two wires in both the left and the right cable. Meaning for the white side there was a small white wire and some copper wire around it and the same for the red one. Is the copper part a ground??
And, I am gonna splice in an extra 1/8 stereo plug, and the wires colors are red, black, and a bare silver one. Any thoughts?
Thanks,

You can tap off the cig lighters behind the dash, the right one I believe is juiced with the key turned to acc (maybe it has to go to the on position?), the drivers side though is always hot so you don't want that one. I put mine between the console and the passenger seat on the floor and used the console power outlet for power. I had my console apart when I ran the wires but I think you can take the flip out cupholder out and get to it that way.
Hey GETSOM, can you pretty please post the wiring instructions for the RCA cables to splice to the AUX cable?
Here's what I PMed to Getsom:
The inner wire of the RCA cable is the signal wire (left or right) the outer is the ground or common (shield) wire. The 1/8 plug has only three wires as you noticed. You need to run the two RCA ground shields together and connect them to you 1/8 wires ground. The other two inner wires are connected the respective signal wires of the 1/8" wire. Since I don't have your wire in front of me right now, I can't tell you which is the left or right signal. My guess is the red is right, black is left, and the bare metal one is definately the ground/common. Hope this helps.
Did you solve the noise problem on your MP3 player? Is this a function of noise in the 12V cig lighter power? I note that all the little mint tin amps prefer a battery for clean power.

No, I really haven't been motivated enough to take the dash apart again. I'm almost tempted to wait until I upgrade all the speakers and put in new amps. I figure it's either a faulty mini-plug or a ground loop caused by the PIE, an isolator should fix.
