Custom All Plexi-Glass Speakerbox with Fosgate & Focal system installed

Featuring a custom all plexi-glass speakerbox, my new system is powerd by a pair of Rockford Fosgate POWER amps & a RF farad capacitor w/ 1 guage power/ground wires. The speakerbox is made completely of 1/2" Plexi. Inside the speakerbox I have enclosed a pair of Fosgate 8" PUNCH stage 2. Powering these subs, I have a RF POWER T5002. Inside all the doors I have a high end european brand component & coax speakers by FOCAL. In the front I had the 6x9 space moded to fit a pair of 6 1/2" component speakers (FOC 165KF). And in the rear doors I have a pair of 6 1/2" coax (FOC 165CA) Powering the door speakers is a RF POWER T8004. I also had all my doors matted w/ Dynomat. And controlling all of this is a LightningAudio 6 channel crossover. For a little over 3k, I had my entire system (except the deck) upgraded. Here are my mods:

RF T8004 POWER Amp
RF T5002 POWER Amp
RF FARAD CAP
RF 8" PUNCH stage 2 subs(2)
FOCAL 6 1/2" component
FOCAL 6 1/2" coax
LightningAudio 6 channel crossover
LightningAudio 200 amp circuit brkr
1 guage Power/ground wires
Dynomat

Everything sounds and came together perfectly. This is by far the best system I've ever owned from top down. The only thing I would want to change in my set-up is the size of my subs. Unfortunetly due to the lack of space under our back seats, anything larger just wouldnt have sufficient space. The one thing that I am most proud of is the speaker box. This was my first stab at using ALL acrylic to create a box, but I can proudly say that it looks and sounds awesome.

looks very good. 1/2" plexi is too thin, imo, however. I would do at least 3/4".

Excellent install, however. Do this prevent the seats from going down all the way at all?

How much volume does each sub have?

I like the sound of a 12", so I'd probably do a single 12 as my system. Excellent job with the plexi. Makes me want to make my next box out of lexan... hmmm...

We mounted the grounds on the passenger side of the back of the cab. (just above the hump on the ground) Its about six inches from the cap. My buddy recomended that spot bcus our gas tank is on the driver's side. It should be okay to do it on either side, but better safe than sorry.

Nice. How are the amps attached to the rear wall of the cab?

We mounted 2 small pieces of MDF (pre-carpeted) on the drivers side of the rear wall, in the dimpled sections. This was done so we could get a flat sufrace to mount the amps. Then we bolted the amps where we could thru the wall & the MDF fillers

downfiring boxes will be louder and sound better. Notice even his plexi box is downfiring.

My original idea was to build the box out of 3/4", however the cost for materials alone would nearly have been double for what I paid for 1/2". And bcus this was a proto-type, I didnt want to spend too much on materials. I am VERY happy w/ the final outcome, but eventually I might upgrade and build a second box w/ similar dimensions, only using 3/4" or 1" material. I might look into eliminating the center space so I can increase the vol for larger subs.

The box does not interfer w/ the seats at all. I'm not sure exaclty what the volume is, but I bassically made the box as close to the owner's manual specifications as possible. The recomended vol is .65 cubes for my subs, with a sample dimension of 12.5" H, 19.5" W, 7.75" D. Unfortunetly due to the limited space and the design of my box, the max I was able to extend the dimension is 12"H, 20.5"W, 6"D.

are those internal or external dimensions?

internal : 8.54 cu. ft.
external : 6.21 cu. ft.

If they are external measurements, the box is fairly close, although a little small.

Those are external dimensions. Thanx for the #'s, since I've completed the box I've been curious, but never found the actual vol. What equation did u use to get the vol?
