I was looking for a way to use my Apple Ipod (third generation with dock connector) in my new Titan. The Aux input on the dash is sort of convenient, however, I do not like to have the Ipod lying out in the open with cables cluttering things up. I considered hardwiring the Ipod to the back of the Aux jack and then mounting the Ipod in the glove box but that would be a pain in the butt to get in and out of the glove box to turn on the Ipod.
I came up with a cool location. The center console has a nice little holder on the inside of the lid that the Ipod fits into perfectly. I used a small piece of foam to hold the Ipod tight. I then installed a power outlet from the parts store on the inside of the storage console (there is an OEM power outlet in the console that I tapped into for power) to power the Belkin Auto Kit for iPod w/ Dock Connector. This little wonder powers the Ipod and has a line level amp that allows you to use the Aux jack and still have decent audio. To connect the Belkin to the Aux, I ran a cord from the Belkin Kit through the console and hardwired it to the back of the Aux jack.
The end result is a hidden Ipod that is powered/charged and no cords laying all over the place. I just have to flip open the console to switch on the Ipod and I be jammin'.
Good idea! Wow, those Ipods are really small. Jammin with the Funky Monks? I never met any funky monks; I thought they were into Gregorian chants & stuff like that.
You are lucky you have a power outlet inside the console. If you had the DVD player, you wouldn't have one. Frustrating that I have to wire my own outlet into the console.

You don't have a outlet on the back of your console where the cup holder is on the floor? I'm not saying you should have just curious why would they delete it with the DVD option???
ok so there is no need for an in-line amplifier in the dash with this car kit right? the little charger has one built in to it? does it really sound as good as the cd player? this is a great little set up, very clever.

I have tried the Griffin RF modulator, a cassette adapter, and I have an icelink (www.densionusa.com) in my BMW roadster for the ipod. I have to say this Belkin thing sounds the best of all of the above.
Go to www.belkin.com for all of the info on the unit. By the way, right now Belkin has a 50% off sale when you use this - 12345 - in the coupon code section of the ordering page. I bought mine for $25.

nope you will still need the inline amp to match the volume output I have the belkin and it needs more juice
With the Belkin turned all the way up it will go louder than I will ever play it. But then again, I may be old (-:
hehe i am pretty young so i like mine LOUD!!!

Sorry, but I did not take any photos during the wiring installation. The console with the shifter has plenty of room to run the wire from the storage console area up to the radio. Both the shifter console and the trim surrounding the radio pop off for access. Put the truck in neutral to get the shifter out of the way. You can do a search for details on removing these parts as others have posted about how to do it.
Here's another mounting option some of you guys bay be interested in. g35ipod
Also if you don't have the factory DVD you can use that input for hardwiring. It's easier to get to than the AUX jack. Just remove the shifter trim (I should preference this I have the armada console) in front of it at the bottom of the dash is the DVD harness hidden. pop it down connect to the audio wires and wire the FES ENABLE and AUDIO ON together. now to activate it hold the REAR AV down for 1.5sec and it will come on plus you can now select DVD on the rear controls.
