I was wondering how those of you ran the wire to the front componets if using aftermarket wiring, and were you put your x-overs. I have two pairs of the Alpine X componets and would like to use better wire straight from the amp to x-overs. These x-overs are very large and I was thinking of puting them under the front seats. I would also like to use better than factory wiring from x-overs to speakers but wondering if it will be a pain to run the wire into the doors and up the dash for the tweeters. Any info would be most helpful as I plan to upgrade as soon as I figure this out.
My first tip is that if you can dont even use the x over, go straight to the combonents and bi-amp them(run the wire directly to the drivers and directly to the tweets, and have you amp, if its capable separate the signal. But to answer your question, its not too complicated, and it wouldbe well worth it.

dude how did you run wires through the front doors--Im now intrigued. I spliced the factory wires(which Id now like to change)---how in the world did you get through the front door and around the dash??
I used to use a metal coat hanger and fish the wires through starting in the door and ending up in the dash. Just be careful not to punchure anything.

I have Type-X 6.5" Components in the front w/ 5.25" components in the rear. I put the rear crossovers under the front seats, velcroed to the floor. The front crossovers are under the dash, zip tied under the drivers side (to the back of the hood release mounting bracket) and velcroed behind the right side of the glove box surround between the metal dash support and the body. I used a very large zip tie (like the one's that cops use as riot cuffs) with the end cut off to fish the wires through the door boots after removing them at each end (that allowed me to straghten them out, run the wires, and then re-insall them). One of these days I will take pics of my install, I just have not gotten around to it.

Thanks for the info This is what I was looking to do. How did you run the wire to the tweeters in the dash? Those x-overs are very large, and you found good placement. We have those zip ties at work for combative patients so I can get those. How do the X components sound. I am very excited to get mine in. I will also be running two JL 10w0's. Thanks again.
oh just for info my crossovers are mounted on the back wall near my amps. I pulled a piece of wood behind the carpet, and screwed into that forthe amps and crossovers.

Once you pop out the tweeters in the dash (they are held in by push-in plastic clips), you can drop wire straight down. It is very open underneath the stock tweeters (you can see to the floor if you look through the windshield down into the holes after removing the stock tweets).
The Type-X's sound great! They where a bit bright at first, but they calmed down quite a bit after a couple of days. I have the tweets set to 3dB down, since they are so close to your head.
To mount the new tweets, I cut a mounting plate out of 1/4" Luan Plywood by tracing the outline of the factory tweet. Then I cut a hole for the new tweet and glued it into place. The only problem that I have now is that the little cone in the center of the type-x tweefer is a bit too high, and I can't get the factory grills back on. I am going to re-make the mounting plate from something thinner to see if that drops it down enough to clear.

to create a mounting plate for the tweets --use either a thin piece of aluminum of plastic. I found an old plastic spackle tool, cut out a 2.75x2.75 square---used a router to get the correct hole diameter, and voila perfect centered and everyhting.

I think I am going to try ABS Plastic next (since the luan plywood is a bit too think), but I will Dynamat at least one side of a plastic or metal bracket, so I don't end up with any wicked resonance...
