Question CE Light w/ new deck?

I want to put a stereo into my truck but the guy at the shop is saying that when you unplug the harness to the factory deck and plug in a new one it throws a check engine and air-bag light?? Is that the case or what?

He just says you can go to Nissan and they will re-flash the computer to turn them off but I dont know how thats gonna go over(dont need them voiding my warranty already)...

Whats the deal on that?

Thanks fellas

Basically, your warranty should stay intact as long as the new device does not in anyway interfere with other systems in the vehicle; causing them to fail.

The possibility of CE light coming on in this situation is very slim to none, but if this happens, the dealer will charge you to reset the ECU.

I dont see how un-plugging the factory deck has anything to do with CE or air-bag lights(none of my cars with aftermarket decks had any issues) BUT apparently it happens pretty often.

Ive got the XE model so it doesnt have the Fosgate system...which would make you think a swap would be simple.

I can't speak to the CE light issue, except that I replaced the the radio in my LE and the CE light did not come on. The air bag light did come on but it can be reset. There is a proceedure provided in the HOWTO forum for resetting the air bag light. I followed that proceedure and the blinking air bag light returned to normal.
The reason the air bag light comes on in that situation is this: To install an aftermarket radio the center bezel that fronts the radio needs to be changed. To change the bezel several connectors must be unplugged from devices mounted on the bezel. Those devices are then moved to the new bezel and connections remade. Among those devices is the air bag light for the passenger seat. If it is unplugged and the ignition is turned on the air bag detection system will go into alarm (flashing air bag light). However, it is relatively easy to reset.
