XM Radio from Factory????????

Well finally I got my Titan....WAhooooooooo.....

And I got the XM radio from the dealer for a really good deal....... BUT.....
The dealer said it was displayed on the TITAN display and the installer would install a little box that I do not see......Well...the installer says that is not the case and he has ti install the xm commander or something like that......My front console does not have the SAT button like what is in my manual.......And I do not want the external unit mounted on the dash!!!!!!!
Who is right here? Can Nissan swap out the console for the right one? Any help is appreciated

If you have the LE, I think that means you have the RF, and no satellite button. If you have the Nissan (mfg. by Clarion) XM receiver installed, you can select XM radio by pressing the RADIO button on the dash or by using the steering wheel controls. If you go with something like the XM Commander, you will not have integration with the factory head unit controls. If you search, you can find a few posts where people have installed the XM Commander are are quite happy with it, and it is less expensive. I recall one where they installed it in the overhead sunglass compartment.

Here is a link to the Nissan XM install instructions:

http://www.courtesyparts.com/satelli...04%20Titan.pdf

With reference to the instructions, look under your driver's side dash and you should be able to locate the NBUS connector, which is the connector for the XM receiver that is already plugged into the back of your RF head unit.

I bought my XM receiver from:

http://www.infinitiwholesaleparts.com/en_US/

I used a Terk magnetic roof mount antenna, mounted through the third brake light, which required use of a splitter, as the Nissan XM receiver is set up for a dual lead antenna, and the Terk antenna is single lead. You would probably want to check whether they are still using a dual lead receiver, as most new receivers use single lead.

Oh, and it looks like you have your choice of XM or Sirus when purchasing the Nissan receiver.

Your sig indicates you bought an LE. The LE comes standard with the Rockford-Fosgate radio system. The RF radio has a "SAT" button and "Rockford-Fosgate" is lettered on the panel. If you do not have a SAT button I strongly suspect you do not have the RF radio - something is obviously wrong here!!! I believe a serious, frank talk with with dealer is in order to discuss exactly what model Titan did you receive. It appears that maybe your Titan is not actually an LE.
Both the RF and the mid-level radio come with wiring in place for the Nissan XM receiver.

My RF has no SAT button, maybe because it has DVD - NAV ?

I just filled a gap in my education. There are two different panels for the RF radio. The one for the CC is configured to account for the rear controls, the one for the KC (what I have ) does not have the rear control functions. The KC unit has CD, FM, AM, SAT on the four buttons in the center of the radio. The CC unit has CD, RADIO, AUX, REAR AV on the same four buttons. To access the satellite radio on the CC unit one must repeatedly depress the RADIO button to cycle between, FM, AM and SAT. Without a satellite radio present (either XM or SIRIUS) the SAT function will display as NO SAT as the RADIO button is cycled.

The wiring is in place for the Nissan radio. All that is needed to be done is to install the XM receiver, plug connectors into it and install the XM antenna. Point the installer to the install instructions indicated above.

See...That's what I thought......The dealer has an outside source install the stuff.....And they have never even seen the Titan...Obviously they have no idea...hehe.....Sweet....I knew the Titan was SAT ready....just wondering if I dropped the ball.....I shall send some pics soon as it stops raining here......

Of course....I should not be complaining...... They would not come any higher for my trade so in return he agreed to install XM for the dealer cost....which he THOUGHT was $125....And he thought my cost was $250...It was actually $600....but I got it for the $125....Thanx all for your patience and help.....

P.S. I love the fact that every time I see antoher guy in one...We do the ol nod and thumbs up.....hehe....

After I bought my truck, I was taking a closer look at my sticker, and it said "XM Satellite Radio - $400" - but my stereo was not equipped. So I called the dealer, and he says "let me check the invoice." He comes back and says that the invoice doesn't have that on there (and that the invoice price is $400 less than the sticker price), so he calls Nissan. Apparently, they were gonna put the XM receiver in there, but for some reason they didn't. So I just had my XM tuner installed on Wednesday - for free!

My Titan is an XE model, though, so I had the Clarion-type stereo with the SAT button. XM Reception is pretty good, but as I live in very mountainous terrain, it does cut out on occasion.

That really clears things up, then.

Yep. It's getting clearer and clearer. I do not believe that 'rear AV' is an option on the KC. The radio face plate without the SAT button has a REAR AV button instead. Therefore, I would suspect that a KC with a face plate that includes a REAR AV button must have an incorrect face plate installed.
Anyone else with an idea?

So for us rookies, I have a KC and the radio has a SAT button do I need to buy something else to have XM radio? Is it something that is pretty well a plug and go without being seen?

The Nissan satellite receiver is a box which mounts near the firewall just above the brake pedal plus a satellite antenna that I believe mounts on the rear window. If you look at the install directions indicated above you can get an idea of where and how. And yes, it is pretty much plug and play since the wiring harness is already in place.

There are aftermarket satellite receivers that are less expensive that the Nissan unit. Since you do not wish to install yourself, obviously you would need to pay for an install. Bottom line, there is probably not much difference between the Nissan with Nissan install and the aftermarket with a custom install.
You pays your money and makes your choice.
