Sub Box design HELP!!

I need some help designing a box for my new sub. I just got an infinity Perfect 10" And although I don't have the truck yet, I would like to build a box that will fit under the back seat of the king cab. I went to the dealer to measure. From what I got it is 12" deep, 8" from the floor to the bottom of the seat, and 21" to the edge of the center hump to the door. I can figure the calculations for a boring square box, but was looking for someting more interesting. Just seem to be haveing trouble getting the vol. right. the sub need 0.6 cuft and I would like to only use half the cab for the sub box, and other half for the amp rack. I'll be using 3/4 MDF for construction. So and ideas or designs would be appreciated. Thanks.

Im pretty sure from other people that you are going to need a wedge style box because of the way the floor and bottom of the seat curves. With a wedge style box you dimensions need to be.....20 wide 12 deep 7 up front and 5.25 in the rear and you come up with 0.60422. Very close to what you want it to be. infact you could just throw a 0.00422 cube of scrap in there if you want .60 exactly. Here is a site that will allow you to play aroun with numbers sub box calculator hope this helps.

Custom Sub Box Project :: Part II

Custom Sub Box Project

Check the above threads. It may be for crew cab and not KC so be careful. I made a .5 downfire box for a CC, but I haven't got the sub driver yet, so I don't know if it fits. It fits nicely under the seat and has a 1" recess on the bottom. The mounting depth of the sub is pretty critical as the distance from floor to seat bottom is not that great. There was a recent post about a box on Ebay that has the magnet for the sub driver protrudingly slightly upwardly through a hole in the box that is covered by a little plate on the theory that the mag riser will sink into the soft bottom of the seat. On the crew cab, the rear seat bottoms are not soft, but rather rigid. Maybe the KC seat bottoms are soft?

Box too small, Sub too big

Ok, so I tried the 20x 12x 5.2x 7 and my sub wouldn't fit. I have a 6in mounting depth. And the magnet on the perfect is pretty big. As for the box on ebay, I wouldn't go for it. I would think you would want some space b/w the mag and the box to allow for cooling. I'm thinking I might just build the box for my car, then just build another one once I get the truck.

You say that you have a 6" mounting depth. The box will work. You have to take away the 3/4 of an inch that you have for the top peice. Now your left with 5 1/4 inches. That was the lowest part of the box. I dont think it would be a problem at all. Have you already bought the subs. Why not try and find something with a lower mounting depth.
