Question Rear controls seperate from front controls?

I have a LE CC with RF no SAT. I was reading in my owners manual about the rear audio control. It says if I had the SAT feature I could listen to a CD or the radio in the back while listening to something different in the front. Does anyone know if or how I could make this work with my present system. Sorry if this has been addressed before but I couldn't find an answer anywhere.

I believe the only way to do this is by using wireless headphones. Any infrared set should work, I picked up some Audiovox phones and they work great, my son can listen to the radio (or a cd if we listen to the radio). I think they cost me 40 bucks, but I've seen various brands for less. Your stereo is already equipped with this feature, but you don't get the headphones unless you have the DVD option.

You can use regular headphones, too. You just have the wires hanging down.

Ok...sorry fellas...I feel like a bumb a##. i took my first road trip this weekend with my brother and his two girls. I didn't realize that when you plug the headphones in it changes things. I had pushed the REAR AV button on the head unit and then pushed to mode button on rear controls without and headphones plugged in. That changes the mode of the head unit from the back.... anyway.....thanks for not making me feel as stupid as I feel myself

You don't have to have headphones plugged in. Push REAR AV and the rear controls can change the HU. Push the headphone symbol and the rear controls only change what the headphones hear.

there are some limitations to what the rear controller can do. volume for instance. the rear controller cannot raise the volume higher than the volume level set on the audio unit by the front controller... or at least that is how it works in my truck. it can be lowered and raised but if it is at 0 on the front then I cannot do anything volume related on the rear controller.

Can someone watch a DVD and listen to it through headphones in the back while others listen to something different in the front?
Sorry if this has been answered before, I tried searching for it.
