Not sure if you care, but box 1 is covered in a type of textured paint. Kind of like a bedliner texture. If it ever chips or scratches(people kicking with back of shoe, etc.), it will be really ugly looking. I will also show dirt and dust if you leave your windows down. On the other hand, it would be really hard to match the carpet, so this approach doesnt even try, black goes with anything...

The other boxes are carpeted, which I prefer...

You should probably decide on subs first to see which will have the correct amount of airspace. Box 1 is for 10's, box 2 is for 12's, and box 3 says it could be 8's or 10's.

You should decide on subs first IMO, 12's have lots of bass, but its more lazy bass to me. 10's have nice tight bass, but do not go as low as 12's. 8's are going to be tighter and wont go as low. This all depends on the sub of course, you have lots to choose from, but I prefer JL's, maybe some anniversery 10 w6's. Or were those last year? Geese its been awhile since I worked at a stereo shop, so I dont rightly remember...

#1 looks the best, has the best fit in the truck( Ive emailed a few who have it on ebay) but it is only 1/2 mdf a big no no with high power subs--and I spoke to my box builder supreme, nad he said that cap on the box is pretty common in chevy trucck boxes to increase mounitgn depth. told me it is better to use wood rings thoug as they seal better and can account for larger magnets

#2 very few 12" subs will sound good in 0.65 cu ft after speaker displacement--most need 1 cuft to retain quick repsonse that you tend to get with 10" woofers--Id leave that one alone

#3 the right size mdf is a big plus, but it stick out a little on the sides and the front according to the people I emailed--and they ship from FL so it would take pretty long--so prepare and order ahead of time

all of them dont use the space over the tranny very well, as you should be able to get at least 1 cu ft per sub if you go over the tranny properly (according to my calculations)

havent decided yet, but i may just buy #1 and copy the design (as I like the way they curved the back and the tranny hump) and modify it for more air space and use 3/4 mdf

good luck

They sit too deep for any of the 3 boxes, JL is out of the question if you want to go with one of these boxes

BTW.....I want to correct you on Box #1....it is for 10" speakers, not 12".

I think i saw in the past that the same guy/company makes them for 12" as well....thats maybe where you got mixed up.

mdf is a type of wood (well actually it is made up of wood fragments) does a good job in sound applications due to the fact that it is really dense and pretty cheap--the only downfall is that it does not like water, and is rather heavy

heres a great link

http://www.lungster.com/l/speakers/mdffaq/mdf.html

and believe me I have tried the only newer style jl sub that will fit in the titan are the 8w7 firing out, or maybe the 10w6v2 firing out using fiberglass

My bad, I thought it was like some of the cheapo boxes we use to sell back where I use to work in Oklahoma...

Another option might be to just see what a shop would charge to make you a custom box, the place I use to work was really reasonable...

MDF is an acronem(sp?) for Medium Density Fiberboard, as with most boards or wood thicker is better...

Titanon24's, I need to start doing whatever it is you do for a living, my woman would kill for a TSX. Well not quite, we actually had a deposit on one back in Feb, then the dealership lied to us and told us they were no longer making them with Navigation for 2004. Got my deposit back, and decided maybe we shouldnt spend so much, ended up buying a red `04 Civic EX-SSRS Coupe 5-speed. We'll keep it untill she's done with collge, as soon as she lands a decent job we'll prob. buy a TSX, hopefully they will bring over the AWD version by then and maybe add some horse power to compensate for the extra weight...

Haha if you would like to know what I do, i'm a Field Engineer for big offshore service company, and my wife is also going to college, see will be a Registered Nurse. If you like the sub set up i'm getting, the highs are going to be even better. I'm using 2 sets of 6.5 CDT HD components on a JL 450/4 amp on them and the JL 500/1 on both the 8w7's. Should be a nice set up hehehehe.

I have box #3 sitting in my garage right now. I'll be getting it installed this weekend. It looks to be of good construction and the carpeting job is fine by me. All of the wood seems are continously glued. For an extra $25 I had black carpeting installed to match my interior. This company told me that they typically ship on a Friday, so time to your door will vary by when you placed your order and how far you are from Florida. They delivered as promised. They also said they would provide as much phone support as necessary to help you do your own install. If you are uncomfortable using ebay, they have their own website, Soundoffaudio.com., they are a full service retailer.

If your looking for a "hard hitting clean sound" here is how much the 8w7 has under the crew cab seat just to let everyone know.
