Cool DVD System??

Anybody interested in adding the over-head flip down screen DVD system?
It fits in the factory slot in the over-head console to look factory, and the DVD player fits in the glove box. It's virtually a factory system! Let me know what you think. I can get you more pictures if necessary!

can we get the screen alone. Since i have a Kenwood DVD player in my dash already? (getting installed today) Adding a single screen to the back using one of the many sunglasses holders would be sweet.

yes it is very easy to install the monitor. the worst part of the monitor install is having to run the combined video/power/sound feed-wire up the side column, along/over the head-liner to the monitor. i am finishing mine this weekend. was going to post pics of the install when i am done.

i however put my dvd player under the passenger seat since i have the "popular package with bench" and no nav/dvd. i made my own bracket/stand and used the grommets for the nav mount to secure it. honestly the worst part has been figuring out where to tap for power for both the dvd and screen... well that and getting sound piped to the factory inputs for the radio. it seems the popular w/bench has a little different wiring harness than those with the center console...

You can get the fm modulator that works like a drive in movie. Just tune your radio to like 88.9 or something and you pick up the dvd sound through the factory radio!

WARNING: In big cities, these FM Modulators don't work worth beans! I would purchase a FM modulator at Best Buy or Circuit City (so you can return it) and check your reception with a walkman before mounting one in your truck. I'm in the Phoenix area and it just won't work. Once I leave the city, it works perfectly.

Can't the current Rockford Fosgate system play the DVD?

I didn't research the DVD system in the Titan so I don't know if the OEM DVD system had a seperate player.

I know the Armada has the factory dvd wiring harness and it is very easy to tie into. You need a line-level amp. I think a few Titan owners have found the wiring harness also. (on the Armada it is in front of the shifter on the bottom edge of the dash, pull the console from around the shifter back out of the way and feel for a empty harness along the bottom edge of the dash). If you don't have it you can also tie into the AUX jack (you still need a line-level amp). With the factory harness you get the rear and steering wheel control as well as the wireless headphone ability...The AUX doesn't go to the rear control for some unknown Nissan reason? I think the screen you guys are looking at is by Myron and Davis and I believe that it has a IR or RF transmitter for headphones built in. You'll have to block the factory IR transmitter likely if the M&D is IR.

As a fellow native of Phoenix I may be able to help you out here. If the FM modulator is the only thing you prefer to listen to, (much like sirius' built in modulator) you can remove the antenna and pick up your close range modulated signal and not be bombarded with a freaking spanish station that is on 88.3 but takes up 88.1 and 88.5.

Do you have any stats of the screen? Screen size, resolution, more pictures? Does it come in a matching Black/Grey to match the Titan? (maybe pictures of a Titan install?)

Mine is a Myron and Davis and it comes in grey or tan to match the major upper console colors. the screen specs are:

7.8" 16:9 wide screen TFT LCD active matrix
1440H x 234W resolution
.358H x .413W dot pitch
400 cd/m2 bightness
50/60/65/65 (top, bottom, left, right) degree viewing angles
wireless ir for head phones

You do not have to use the wireless on the M&D. Just do not plug in the audio source an it does not send a signal. I am going to tap into the factory harness going to the audio unit where the dvd feed normally goes per llajumpvid's suggestion in a previous post by him.... really it is all his fault I started this ;^) after reading his post and seeing his system.

llajumpvid - I followed your posts and was unable to find the DVD harness under the dash in my TITAN with the popular with bench and mid-level audio. apparently the harness is different if you do not have the center console. Instead I am going to have to remove the audio unit to get to the harness behind it. hopefully the wires are there in the mid-level plug or at least the pins are there. BTW, where did you get you line-level amps?

Thanks for the offer on the FM Modulator Jamie. It is just not for me. I am having enough problems with FM reception (even post TSB) that I do not want to go that way.

I have found a couple of sub-harnesses, 1 in the center console behind the radio for a dvd system, and 1 for the roof console for the dvd system. They might help you to tap into the factory system!
24016-7S202 center console $42.74
24167-7S261 roof console $25.73
I'm not exactly sure if these would help, someone would have to be a guiney pig!

RS250R, sorry If you knew how many times I took my dash/console apart to figure all this out. (and I let the dealership do it once and they scracthed it ) I couldn't find the harness origionally either and pulled the stereo, the wires were back there on mine so you might be able to trace them but I don't know if you HU is defferent. ?can you get dvd as an option with the popular bench mid-level audio? they might not put the harness in since there isn't a console? If dvd is a option look around where they would put the player for a harness...
Here's where I got my amp pie line level amp
