Power Pictures

Does anyone have pictures, or experience running 2ga or bigger wire in their trucks? I did a search for "power wire" and found some hits, but limited pictures. Also any information on how to add the wire distribution at the battery would be helpfull- it looks really conjested. The wire is large and it sounds like most people have drilled holes in the firewall... anyone find an unused gromit that will fit 2ga? Thanks!!!

most folks are running there large wire through the N on the passenger side firewall (there are some pics posted a few moths ago). just make sure you dont dril into your ac line

just get a titanium metal drill bit (1/2" for 4GA) (1" bit for 1.0 GA)

I have actually never seen 2 GA wire how many strands is that??

to wire to the battery there is a ring terminal on the postive lead that you can screwr right onto it, or just buy new battery (positve and negative--assuming you are grounding at the battery) terminals from cardomain

there is no way to get wire that large throguh the firewall unless you drill bro, or you could go under the tire well somehow

2ga is right between 1ga and 4ga I believe (I am sure you know that) but I am not sure how many strands it is. It is pretty common for car audio (my 2 RF amps want 2 8ga each, and if I am not mistaken 2ga is the equivalent of 4 8ga wires? I am sure someone will correct me if that isnt the case.) What did you mean by the "N" on the passenger fire wall SMOKETITAN? The only picture I could find was a view from the cab of a wire stubbed through the plastic floor mat by the passenger side. Really wasnt as helpful as a picture from the engine compartment would have been if anyone has one. Is that the one you are refering to? All the same, thanks for the reply

1st--if you only need two 8ga inputs--then a 4 ga main power line will be fine--but larger is always nice but pretty expensive. I think more than anything you need more wire strands than anything--knuconceptz has great power/speaker wire with more strands than say stringer

2nd

if you pull back the carpet on the passenger side--you will see the sound foam--it will have a N on it. pull back the foam and mark at the bottom of the letter---DO THIS IN FULL SUNLIGHT

take a long yard stick or something like and try to line up your mark your point to make sure you are clear on the enigne wall side.

you are real close to the AC exit line so be carefull not to puncture it, if you locate it right you should have no problem

there is a picture posted of the N and where to drill--I just cant remember the link, Ill try and find it

Good lookin out. I got ya now. I have 2 amp that both take 2 8ga inputs... thats why the 2 ga. But you are sure right that stuff is expensive! Any suggestions for runing that fat wire through the truck. I am thinking about putting the amps under the front seats, but that wire will most likely stick out like a rolling pin under the carpet! Anyone tried going through the door jams under the kick plates?

Thats huge! What were you powering? Where did you run your wire to your amps? Can you be more specific about the firewall plug location. Did you have to remove a plug, or drill? I assume you removed a gromet?

Yes I removed a grommet..The access is just left of the steering column on firewall. Its right next to the hood latch cable I believe...You can read my sig to see what I'm powering.

I too ran my 4ga through a hole on the upper left driver's side. You can see the plug if you look.
