Yes it's RDS. I think the "D" is for data. Although I didn't look at the manual today, I'm pretty sure it's mentioned. When you listen to a station that uses RDS, those letters will appear on the display along the top.
The "A" and "B" appear as you press the radio button, or the FM button (depending on which radio you have). This feature allows you to store more stations. The manual discusses it.
