MikeZ,

Do you have the utilitrack with yours? I know you're probably biased, but does the glossy finish look good with it? I've been holding off buying anything until we get some more choices, but I do like the Retrax.

Truxedo

Love the Truxedo! Have had Xtang in the past and the snaps suck. The Truxedo is easy on and easy off (rolled up) even in cold weather. The cover is really simple to remove from the truck as long as you can live with leaving the frame on the bed rails. just 2 bolts at the front of the bed and off it comes. the extender was a hassle but with a relatively simple mod (someone else posted this mod) the extender is no longer an issue either to remove or flip. Hope this helps!

Okay I am with you now. Although I should mention the canister only takes about 9" or of space and area under it is still clear.

Yes, I have the UT and it works without modifying.. I have bed extender and divider and both work, no problems. Personally I think the glossy finish looks very nice although it isnt "REAL" glossy, just a good shine. But from an unbiased standpoint, I have had at least a handful of people comment (unsolicited! )on how good it looks.
I think it comes down to both of these tops work perfectly with Titans with UT and it really comes down to the look you want. As mentioned the Kcover has a bit of utility look and the retrax has its look. Some like it one way and others like other way.. I did a full review with pics on retrax on clubtitan, you can read it here if you want: Feel free to ask any questions, I should be able to answer.

After reading many posts on this subject, I ordered the Retrax this morning.. should have it within the week and attempt installation next weekend. Thanks to everyone who posted lessons learned from their own installation.

Retrax is now including new hardware to use with the Utility Track Bed Extender to make it easier to fully operate with the Retrax cover... has anyone else received this new hardware? Does it help? I didn't remember seeing any posts mentioning this...

They also recommended an additional piece of "weather stripping" to close the gap between bottom of tailgate and rear bed. This is intended to keep road grime out of the bed...they stated that driving with the Retrax closed creates a vacuum effect in the bed and tends to suck in excessive dirt/grime into the bed area.. this additional weather stripping helps solve this problem. I went ahead and bought it ($20)... has anyone experienced this problem?

Thanks again for the information... wish me luck with the Retrax installation (not looking forward to drilling those holes)...

I ordered the ACCESS Standard rollup cover. Wanted something quick, easy and watertight. Looks like it should do the trick and others (with other type trucks) that I have spoken with love'em. Got mine NIB from a guy off ebay in Nebraska. $ 330.00 shipped fron the manufacture to Califonia. Comes in on Monday.

I'll let you know what I think after install.

1. Easy to install AND remove (I use ladder racks a lot, so I need to be able to switch back and forth between tonneau cover and racks on the Utilitrack
2. Watertight (or as much as possible)
3. Relatively inexpensive (I don't want to drop 800 clams on a tonneau if I don't have to, but I will if that's the only way to get a good product. Wife and I just had a little Quarter Shovel, so we're kinda watching our pennies.

Thanks in advance!

Well given your preset perameters you have limited yourself to a soft cover. Or a roll top.

Not really. He went with the K-cover.

Trikky-

One question with regards to the K-cover. In one of your pictures (13.jpg, I think), it looks like there's a plate to lock each individual panel. I thought it only locked in the front and rear. If it has one for each panel, doesn't this plate interfere with and affect the usefulness of the utilitrack?

Thanks

Yes, it blocks how far you can move things. While only the front and rear panels lock, the other two panels are still held down. Basically when you close the back panel, it pushes in a metal rod that goes under that bracket you see, holding down the middle panels so that they are tight. This doesnt really bother me though since I can put a divider in the front and back still. The only problem is that you can't move them much while those brackets are in place. If I ever need to move them all I have to do is loosen the brackets and move them for the time being.
