LPF and HPF settings

Do you think this will work. Record a 80hz-100hz tone for setting the LPF using sine waves recorded at 0db and then set your amp crossover frequency down then put cd in that you made turn frequency up until you hear the tone. Do you think this would work. I would think this would me the most accurate way to set your LPF or HPF..

Gains are easy just setting the LPF and HPF can be tricky when your amps don's list frequency's other then start point and end points..
