Security System

With all these nice stereo systems I've been seeing in Titans, just wondering what type of security system you guys are using? What features does it have? I definitely need to get something in mine before I start adding aftermarket stereo equipment. In the last year I've had 2 cars stolen, one from right in front of my house...

Wow, you must live in a pretty hard area. I have an alpine 8063 on my car, and Viper 791 on my titan. They are both pretty real nice alarms with the usual shock, locks etc- The alpine is pretty old now though. They both also have the option for radar sensors. The viper has an autostart and a 2-way communication system (it tells me if my car started or when my alarm is going off with the remote). I had a pager with my alpine to protect it. I guess other than that maybe add some lights to your driveway! And dont leave anything in sight.

Actually I live in a pretty upscale area in Phoenix, but I guess that is a good place for the thieves to get nice stuff. My driveway and whole neighborhood is pretty well lit and usually pretty safe. I was shocked when we came out one morning and saw what was left of the passenger side window where the car used to be! I just read the other day that car theft in Phoenix is down, only 100 cars per day now... Ridiculous! Thanks for the info on alarms. I think I will definitely get one with a pager. I'd LOVE to catch someone trying to steal my Titan!

I actually was not a big fan of my pager. It was big and kind of bulky. Again I am sure that times have changed with technology, and there are smaller ones that work better out. However, my viper has the pager system built into the remote... I like this a lot better, you dont have to carry around two things all the time- and who needs another cell phone sized box cliped to their belt. The viper remote will either vibrate or chime, and other than the limited range it is the way in my opinion.

i know im bringing this thread back from the dead but the post above mine bothered me.

i dont know about some but if some low life was trying to steal my 30k dollar truck...id definetly respond with something. and since its my property it is well within the law to do so.

maybe im alone in this thinking but there are many people out there that dont care about you or your property and will take anything they can get. i sure know the thief wouldnt mind popping off at you if you got in his way so why should you give him the courtesy.

for the guys that carry if you havent heard of ar15.com its a great website about all guns in general...

i know this was about security systems so i'll add that im getting ready to add the viper 791xv in my new titan...ive researched it for quite a while and it looks to be among the best out there.

I agree with you.....steal from and their going to find out....I'm not going to wait to see if that person is armed. I assume they will be armed.

there you go. more often than not the theif will be armed. if not, its their mistake trying to steal from someone that is

something else that i believe in: if someone is going to be a thief and steal and spend their life in and out of jail. they are nothing but a burdon on society. that problem needs to be fixed one way or the other.

Something to consider in addition to an alarm system is a remote fuel line valve controlled by a hidden switch. I would lean in the direction of one installed by me rather than a dealer. I often wonder if all those fancy " Protected by Brand X" stickers are just sign posts for thieves so they know what system they need to disarm.

ive heard that all alarms made by DEI(you can do a search for that and they will all come up) are quality made and none have had a problem with any of them from what ive read on here.

there are a couple other that have been discussed on here but i cant remember the names.

when i was looking on here i did a search for "security system" and a few thread with a lot of help popped up.
