??? for those who have replaced the RF deck

I have an LE and I want to replace the RF radio with an aftermarket but still use the RF speakers and amps. Is this possible? If not, what is my best course of action to retain the stock speakers but replace the head unit? I tried searching several different ways, but didnt really find what I need. Thanks

Search on my screen name in this forum and you will find a good deal of discussion on replacing the HU, amp, speakers, etal.
Briefly: I have an LE and replaced the RF HU after one week. To replace the HU you will need the bezel for the XE/SE stock radio (available from Nissan parts locations), a Metra 7417 (or equivalent) mounting kit and a harness connector kit. You DO NOT want to use the Nissan amp, the amp in most aftermarket radios is better quality and provides more power. Pull the connector on the amp and make connections there with jumpers to wire the door speakers (front and rear) to the new HU.
I am using the OEM front door speakers and dash tweeters (I used RadioShack crossover networks to wire them to the front connections on the HU). The rear door speakers I changed out for 6x9s since I do not use any subwoofers. The OEM subwoofer under the front seat is not worth using. It is only 6 inch diameter and you would need a separate amp just for it. If you must have a subwoofer consider mounting at least an 8 (most use 10) somewhere in the rear cabin.
