I'm not happy with the reception of my R/F tuner, so I went to the dealer to have the radio changed per the TSB on radio problems. Dealer says the TSB only covers trucks built before Aug. 2004, mine was built in Sept. Are there other problems with radios covered by this TSB besides the reception?
Also big difference between volume levels when going back from radio to CD.
well, i don't think it matters if there are other problems covered by the tsb if the tsb is no good on your truck built in sept. there is a noticible diff in volume between cd and radio.
the tsb mostly deals with fading. treble fading out, stereo to mono reception, and such.
minw was built in middle of Aug and I too have the horrible volume differance between the CD and FM. I read many posts claiming that this is normal due to the fact that the fm signal is analog while the cd is digital. Horse poop to that theory!!!!
I'm sorry but this truck is the first i ahve ever owned that had Volume differanc ewhen switching between cd and radio!!!!!! My jeeep never did that and my 6 year old GP doesn't do that, the volume is the same between the 2.
Yes the clarity is better with CD but NOT THE VOLUME!!!!!
FM volume has to be raised at least 8 levels to reach that of the cd, THAT AIN'T RIGHT!!!
I beleive that nissan does NOT have a fix for this and I doubt any is coming soon cause it sounds *** if frontiers and quests have had this issue for a few years and nothing has been done.

Well, that's the reception problems I'm having.
I can deal with the CD-Radio volume issue, but I would like to hear the radio in the city without the reception acting as if I were out in the country...
I just called my dealer complaining about the same thing, and my service guy acted like he had never heard of a problem with the volume fading and the "stereo to mono" issue. My radio will be in stereo when I am stopped at a light, but as soon as I start to go, it switches to mono. I told him that I knew there was a TSB on it and then he said that he would order me a new radio.
Don't they realize that if they take care of me now, I will buy another car from them. I guess that would require too much common sense.
Now I want to find out all the TSB's so I can make sure I get what I paid for. Any suggestions?

i'm not going to argue with you pal, but i see you don't have any comprehension skills.
I have NO reception issue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
sorry to burs your bubble, but here in chicago, i get in my Granp Prix and I have much better FM volume period. My titan has piss poor VOLUME level on FM, It is clear and non static.
Simply why does 5 other cars i own/have owned never had ANY FM issue what so ever? Suddenly I buy the Titan and now I have issues? seem like a titan problem to me, not a reception problem.
PS I LOVE MY TITAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pugsly for Christ sake it has nothing to do with the Titans radio.
FM radio = 64k
CD = 192k
CAN YOU COMPREHEND WHY YOU HAVE TO TURN YOUR VOLUME UP WHEN YOU SWITCH FROM CD TO FM?
EVERY VEHICLE I'VE BEEN IN FROM MY '86 BEATER, '94 F-150, '96 Grand am, '84 beretta, '01 Ranger and now the '04 Titan have all had teh same thing, Radio is sent out at a lower quality. Lower the quality the higher you have to raise the volume. Think I'm full of **** and want to ****ing debate me about how ****ing ignorant I am? Bring it and I"ll be happy to encode 2 songs at the different frequencies and see how your computer takes to it and how much you have to raise the volume.

Anger management starts as soon as I stop falling in holes my Siberian Husky has so neatly dug all over my front yard and flowers.
Maybe your boombox is set to makeup the difference with something along the lines of an analog amplifier.
From aftermarket to stock I have yet to find a vehicle radio that doesn't change.
Although being in Chicago as you are, and I live by so of the stations are switching to digital and depending on which station your listening to the difference may be significantly less.
Anyway thinking back i think
AM = 64k
FM=128k
CD=192k
switch between AM and FM I bet you get the same thing. Its all in the way its encoded the reciever has nothing to really do with it.
The PO'd response is because I despise people that think they are so knowledgable in a subject they dont know a lick about than tell everyone thier wrong its all thier vehicles radio it has nothing to do with anything else.
