stock 6 cd indash

Hey eveyone just got my titan and am ready to start moding but am getting some interference from the wife (and she got me the truck. So yes she is the boss on this one). So I am keeping it low key for now but the audio needs help..
I looked around the web and this forum with no luck. The 6 cd in dash head, what can i do with it? I don't mind the look of it but it sound like butt... what kind of power is this thing putting out (rms so I can shop for better speakers) is there any preamp outs? (to run an amp and sub or 2 or 3) lastly if you are all on the floor rolling with tears from the pain of how funny this all is, how do I fit a real head in that dash? All I have found is a 2din adapter plate.. and my dash is not an open 2din space...
Thanks
Jimmi

FYI this is not the RF equiped system

No line outs, you'll have to use adapters if you want to use external amps etc.

You are in the right forum. Do a search in this forum on my screen name (eakes) and you will find lots of discussion of what can be done and what others have done.
The bezel for the XE/SE stock radio has a two DIN opening (you have the mid-line radio not the stock radio). This bezel can be purchased at Nissan parts locations (such as your dealer).
Until you replace the headunit or add amps, it is futile to replace the speakers. The existing speakers are high-efficiency units and the existing HU provides very little power (only 5 or 6 watts RMS). If you did replace the speakers with 'normal' ones, it is possible the lack of power from the HU will cause them to fail (underpowered amp starts to 'clip' producing squarewaves which effectively runs DC power through the speakers resulting in voice coil failure).

If you want to use the stock head unit, buy an LOC to tap into the factory leads and install an amp. You will definitly want to replace the factory speakers since they are cheap paper cones. I just replaced my factory speakers with some low priced Infinity Reference speakers and an Alpine Amp and it sounds 10x better.

Do you connect the door speakers to the amp output or leave them connected to the stock radio. I want to add to subs to my truck and change the speakers but I don't know if I have to connect the stock speakers to the amp or to the radio.

How can I connect the amp to the stock radio? can I just run the line from the battery to the interior of the truck, then add a ground and connect both to the amp? what about the remote to the amp? Do I just tap into the ground cable from the stock radio?? I need help bad with this system?

thanks

I have the same radio in my Titan. The mid line with the 6cd in dash changer. Changing out the speakers made a world of difference for me. I replaced the front 6x9s and tweeters and the back 6.5 and tweeters with Infinity reference component 6.5s, both front and back. The CD sounds great now. It won't fix the crappy FM radio reception though. I am going with an aftermarket XM tuner for that. FM is crappy in general, but really crappy through this cheap panasonic head unit.
