Sirius FM Hardwire or AUX?

I'm having it done today and was wondering which would sound the best, a hard wired FM or just plug into the AUX in the front of the radio.

I bought the Audiovox PNP3. Secondly, does anyone have pics of their PNP units placement in the Titan?

Another question: Where did you buy your aux plug from? I can't seem to find any L shaped plugs on both ends from Radio Shack.

I have a Roady 2 that eventually I would like to hard wire into the back of the HU (if the connection exists which I assume it does as I have the SAT button on my dash). Right now it is plugged into the AUX port via a plug bought at Radio Shack (not L shaped). As far as sound difference, I don't know, but it does sound CD quality out of the AUX port

I have my Sirius plug-and-play tuner installed in my truck and I have been using the aux. input in the dash. I initially tried using the FM modulator, but I didn't like the way it sounded. Hard wiring is definitely the way to go for the best sound quality.

The only problem that I have with the aux. input is the volume level. It seems that when using the input jack, the volume level is roughly half what it is using the FM modulator. Personally, I don't mind giving up the ability to play at full volume as long as I can keep the sound quality as high as possible. It's difficult to tell my Sirius tuner from my CD player at the lower volume levels.

Well I got it installed. I used an L adapter for the back with an atenuator (spelling?) and plugged it into the AUX port. This just isn't the way to go. The AUX port does sound clean, but even when all volumes set to full level, it's still to low. I am going to use the Audiovox FM Hardwire module available at Circuit City. It will give the same volume characteristics of FM and sound almost as clean as the AUX. Basically when it detects that the PNP unit is turned on, it will deactivate the cars outside antenna.

I'm going to have to take pics. It looks fantastic. I bought the Audiovox PNP3. I installed it where the NAV usually is and it's angled towards the driver. It looks clean and factory like. The orange display matches the OEM radio and dash lights perfectly.

Re right angle patch cords....................

You need to use the search button. It's all here already. But I'll post it again:

Have you tried finding finding a stereo patch cord with 1/8" right angle mini-plugs for your Roady or MP3 player? They look much cleaner as they don't stick out as far. I looked everywhere and finally found them here:

http://www.arcade-electronics.com

sales@arcade-electronics.com

This one is six feet, black, with right angle 1/8" stereo male mini-plugs at both ends.

Product name : CAD 55-894 Part num : CAD 55-894

Ten bucks once shipping is added in.

I have that plug and play Xact unit. It has a line output, but as noted by others the volume is really too low through the AUX input.

But , the headphones output works great connected to AUX, with plenty of output and better bass too.

For those with the low volume aux situation, you can purchase a 1/8 volume amplifier which boosts up your sound keeping the same quality. It was 20 dollars at radio shack and works great.

What is the '1/8' ?

Put in

1/8 volume amplifier
volume amplifier
amplifier

at radioshack search online and didn't come up with anything that seemed applicable.
Part number or additional info would be very helpful.
Thanks!

Yes, please tell us exactly what the name and part number is. I bought a right angle gold plated adapter that was about 6 inches long with a volume control on it. Even turned all the way up it was way too low even with the radio volume on 31. I also had the volume level at full on the PNP3 unit.

for this problem I used the plans by Sammy Sandbag under the thread of 'hardwire MP3 player'. Works great, is damn near exact volume of CD. To eliminate the hissing noise sound across the wires, just run the power cable to the breaker box by the glove compartment and add an inline ground loop isolater ( not powerd, 10 bucks at radio shack ). Clean out of site look.

P.S. If you are willing to drill a little bit, you could poke a small hole under the rubber stopper where the nav unit would go and have your AUX in port run to that hole rather than down in front of the Head Unit and in the way, and you would still have an input for MP3 players and such without having to unhook your SAT radio. Just move the input Sammy Sandbag put to the side up on top. All this stuff only took me 1 hour to install so it woudnt be hard. Let me know if you have any questions. Hope it helps
OK last thing i promise, when i ran it to the breaker box, i plugged into the 15 breaker attached to the Stock Subwoofer, you can read it on the back of the key that covers the circuits.

Forgive me for sounding really dumb. What all do I need? The PIE LD-1 is the main piece, but what actual wiring do I need and exactly how is it hooked up?
