One last thing, how do I dismount the CD player from the dashboard? and were is a good place to drill the firewall to run the cable from the battery to the amp inside the truck. I see that you went across the engine, from the battery to the drivers side then inside the truck, why this way??

Why would you consider running the remote amp wire to the head unit's ground? Without an input of ~12VDC, the amp will not turn on. Connecting the amp's remote wire to the head unit's ground will not give you this; all it will do is effectively ground the amp's power circuitry and could possibly damage the amp. To get the remote power to your amp, you should determine which wire going to the head unit is powered only when the ignition is on. There will be two wires going to the head unit; a lead that is always hot and one that is ignition activated. Some others on here may be able to let you know what wire you need to tap into. If you cannot determine which wire to use on the head unit, finding any DC source that is sequenced with the ignition will do. There is a very negligible amp draw from the amp's remote connection, so overloading a circuit by jumpering your remote lead will not be a problem. Since I have not installed a system in this truck, I cannot specifically suggest a place to run your battery wire into the cab, again, I think others will be glad to help. In order to get your signal to your amp, you will need to install an "LOC" or what we used to call a "down converter." This will wire into the existing speaker leads coming from the head unit and provide you with an RCA source where you can run RCA cables to your amp. This converter can be purchased at any audio store and is not that hard to install. As for removing the center stack dash piece, I have heard that there are two screws at the bottom and then it just pulls off. Once again, I haven't done this but have read it several times on this forum. Then the radio comes out by removing I think four screws. If you have any other questions you can PM me or email me at
