Does anyone know what size the speakers are on top of the dash? I think they are either 3" or 4". I thought they were tweeters at first, but after removing the covers, they look like speakers. Has anyone replaced the 6 1/2's in the doors yet? If so, what brand did you go with? I found some Infinity's on the Circuit City website that got really good ratings and they are only 99$ a pair. Last week I got my (flip down face) cd player installed along with my minidisc player (both pioneer). They look really good with my charcoal interior, and they are both full dens so they fill the double den space really well. I have a set of high's amps (kicker impulse) and a low's amp (orion 250sx) that I am going to get installed with my 10" orion subwoofers. Has anyone had a box made for your Titan? Maybe a downfire box that goes under the back seat? My local audio shop quoted me 140$ to customize one to fit my Titan. The guys at the shop fell in love with my Titan. They said it is perfect for car audio.

The speakers on the dash are card board. You will tear them out and replace them with REAL tweaters, which means you should buy a "component" speaker system for the front that will include the appropriate crossovers and the correctly sized door speakers all in the same box.
If you are a stereo expert, then you might get everything seperately, but getting components from the get-go is easier. The door speakers that come with the set will cover your mids and lows and the tweeters will cover the highs. You can get everything seperately, but I would suggest talking with an installer or other expert to see which crossovers and tweeters would be appropriate for your project.
ALSO, you might find something better on crutchfield.com
Alot of the chain stores can't offer the variety that an audio retailer can. Try Ebay after you have found what you want on crutchfield and you will get a better price. Buy NEW! you might get burned buying used speakers or crossovers.
I like Infinity. Take a look at their higher-end Kappa or Perfect series'.
I doubt you'll find those at Circuit City, however.
The tweeters will come with several mounting options in the box. You will find one that is more recessed that will fit UNDER that plastic speaker grid / cover on the dash or you can cut a hole big enough for the tweeter to 'sit' in / on that cover. This is nice for sound. You will be able to swivel most tweeters and point them in the direction you want.
I just came back from the stereo shop and found out that JL makes a Stealth box for our trucks. Thinking of picking it up but it cost around $600. It has 2 10W3's. Was going to make a box but might just pick this box up and hope to be happy with it.
Is anyone from Hawaii here?
What's nice about Eclipse is there subs are purposely underrated. Those 7100 series would fit nice under the seat firing up (better SQ). This amp would be really good for making those babies pound.
or if you want to save money on the amp you can go with US Acoustics. They make great amps with good specs for good prices. They are a Company that focuses on quality instead of looks.
w3 jl woofers are cool, but if you like jl Ill get two 8w7 and face them forward. those little monster off only 250w at 3ohm will make you know that they are there
but I agree for 600 bucks you can get many other better sounding speakers than the w3, but in my opinion, others may differ, not much betters the w7 line
I never have been a big JL fan just because they are so overpriced. The W7's are something else for sure but I would take the Eclipse SW9122's any day of the week for having heard both and the SQ of the Eclipse subs are just something else. Now if your wanting SPL then I would consider the W7's. I think they have like a 3inch excursion. WHOA! Not sure if your looking for down, up, front or rear firing subs but I have heard Up, Front and down firing in my truck and up had the best SQ and overall dynamics. Down tends to get smoothered to much especially with bigger subs with long excursions. Front just sounds like arse. The bass sounds like it's coming from behind you instead of all around you. You can go with downfiring subs as long as you stay with subs with good "XMAX" as long as you have the room to keep subs off the floor meaning a good 3-4 inches. I have heard a W7 10" installed in downfiring box in a Dodge Ram and it sounded okay but you could tell it was smoothered. The guy installed dynamat on floor which helped but the output was still muddy. The box you decide to go with has " A LOT" to do with how the sub sounds so be careful in these prefab boxes on EBAY. You need to contact the manufacturer of the subs you want to go with and they will give you ideal box dimensions for your truck for the best sound. Eclipse and Diamond bot will do this and so does JLAudio. You can have a kick butt sub and put it in a poorly designed box and it will sound like arse. Try to have a box built with 3/4" MDF "sealed" for SQ and have the box fiberglassed on the inside so you don't have leaks. Also depending on what sub you go with it's good idea to have bracing inside the box so you don't blow it out. 1" MDF is good to go as well but it can be hard to find.

Checked on exact price and it would be around $525. How much is each W3 anyway? My original plan was to make a 2 cuft box (not easy, under seat only nets 1.6-1.7cuft) ported with 2 10's. That set up used to slam in my 02 king cab. Anyway this is what my set up will be. Stock 6 disk to loc's, Memphis 16-ST2004(50x4), memphis 6x9 coax front, MB Quartz 6.5 separates in rear, Memphis 16-ST1000D(1100x1@1ohm),
Subs????????
W3 10" they go for around $159.99. I wouldn't go ported if your looking for SQ, sealed is the way to go. Never heard the Memphis speakers but I do know there amps are pretty darn good. MB Quartz I heard are owned by Rockford now so not sure if the quality is still there. As for subs if your looking at putting 1100watts into 1ohm load which would be 550watts per sub I would go with the Eclipse 7100 series if it was me. Since you going with a Memphis setup for the most part have checked out there subs?

I tell you the bad thing about running an amp at a 1ohm load is your pushing the amp to it's limit. You might look for a 2channel Class D amp running at 2hom per channel this will yield more power not to mention cleaner...Just a thought

This site is great below is great. They carry just about every brand out there and back the product up with full warranty. I have been buying from them for sometime and they get all there products straight from the manufacturer. Dealers will tell you "You have to buy from us to get warranty" that is so BS. There is no NEED to pay full retail when you can get it for half the price in some cases. I have been buying from these folks for a long time and never had any problems. The will also beat or match any price you find cheaper on the net.
