Did you install that remote start system yourself? I have been calling around for quotes on car alarm/remote start installs and they are running at $400 +. And this is just for the labor. Equipment not included!!! I have never done an alarm before, maybe it is time to take the plunge... especially at these prices. Even install on one without remote start is really pricey.

Does anyone have photos of their upgraded ground wires under the hood? I read everything that was discussed and looked under the hood with confusion. Photos would definitely help me understand (visual learner).
Well I ended up shelling out some major bucks for my alarm/remote start. I ended up with the Clifford Matrix RSX 3.5 Responder with the pager remote. The cost of the install was almost twice as much as the sytem itself! As far as the stereo goes, I ordered all my wiring and plan to get the majority of it in this weekend minus the back up cam. I will probably be pouring over this forum for advice on the install as well.

Wow that is a real nice alarm! Way to go. As far as bugeting install time- be very conservative. If you are anything like me, I thought I would just bust out my system install in a weekend and I have yet to even finish!! Good luck.
I know how that goes and I fully expect to be driving around a truck with no interior panels for a few weeks. You know how that goes. You have a new vehicle and people see the inside and think your vehicle just came from the chop shop.

the engine, electrically speaking, is one big block of conductive material and the steel frame of your truck is one big block of conductive material. so just find a chunk of wire or cable that goes from a bolt on the block (pass. side I'm told) to a bolt on the frame and replace it with a 1/0 (one gauge) copper cable. this will provide an easier path for the electrons to flow from your battery all the way to your aftermarket amplifier. Electrons flow (most people will agree) from negative to positive but the ground wires are rarely as large as the hot wires.

ok so I dont know if im too late or not but I would go check out www.adireaudio.com you can order their brahma series which is a good deal less then JL and you can basically describe the sound of it as a W7 with better SQ
JL amps are nice. I had the 500/5. Sold it in Ebay and bought an Xtant X1001 and X604. My system sounds a whole lot better. You can easily sell the JL amp on Ebay, as they are very popular. Xtant amps aren't as widely known (although they have been around a long time) so you can pick up either of these amps (msrp $1700 ea.) for $300 or less on Ebay!! They are so loud and clear!! As for they W7, go with the W3v3. I am running 300 watts rms to each of two in my CC, and they are so loud, they make you feel sick! Check out my install on a thread I posted. Of course, this is just my opinion. Sound is subjective. MB Quarts are great speakers. If you can do component
speakers, do it. 6.5's in the front will sound much better than 6x9's. If you want more midbass, think about doing kick panels (like I did) with 6.5 inch midbass in your front doors. Leave the tweeters out of the rear as it will pull imaging away from the front. You can put the rear tweeters in the dash (as I also did) This brings the soundstage up and sounds awesome!
As for caps, I chose an Alumapro 15 farad stiffenig cap. It is nothing like the 1 farad caps you see. They are not much help. I ran a 1\0 guage wire to the cap, then a 1\0 guage wire to the X1001, and a 4 guage wire to the X604 from the cap. Even with all this, I have minimal blinking(very minimal) of my lights at night with the a\c on. I am thinking of getting my alternator rewound, or just getting a bigger one. Although I don't notice any decrease in performance at night. May just be too picky.
