Im seriously considering purchasing this DD headunit (still concerned about theft, but thats what insurance is for) what I would like to know is from all that have the unit, what are your thoughts? Likes / Dislikes, regrets. I know Lizardking had it for a minute, but traded up for the 915. Im assumeing from his post this was due to the low volt output of the pre-outs, if you can add anything else LizardKing I would sure like to hear about.
Thanks everyone,

Sure!! I didn't like the EQ and the lack of Digital Time Alignment. The 915 has allot of fine tune adjustments and plays true Dolby Digital formats. The sound shaping on the 915 is far superior then the 7015. The 7015 also has a low volume output and I had to have the LOUD button on to get any decent sound.. The preout's really sucked and it's not a true 2volt preouts more like .8volts RMS!! It's a nice deck for the average user but didn't meet my expectations. The user interface on the 915 is really slick and the screen is much much cleaner when playing movies.. The 915 has allot more audio options built in.. It also has a parametric equalizer in which the 7015 doesn't have giving you more control of the sound... There is so much to the 915 deck compared to the 7015. But what bothered me most was the preout voltages, low volume output and lack of sound shaping settings...

Alot of your complaints would be solved if you added the Kenwood DSP box to it. It pretty much evens the 7015 to the 915's level. Better EQ, higher voltage, more digital formats etc.

I thought about that box but it would have been almost $1800 when adding that box to the price of the 7015.. I paid $1500 for the 915 and trust me it's hole lot better then the 7015. The picture quality and interface alone is worth the upgrade and the 915 won best in show when it was introduced. The volume ouput of the 7015 was just to weak for me!! I had to have the LOUD button on.. To listen to the music at a nice level I had to turn it up around 22-27 and the deck stops at 35! Maybe I just had a lemon who knows. I just can't believe the sound quality of the 915.
